I don't see how anyone could watch the replay of this and say that it was actually a dunk. It looked very, very cool, but it'll probably go down as the worst dunk ever to be awarded a 50, and like Brian said, his later dunks were much, much better. Howard was totally the deserving winner, but this particular dunk shouldn't really count.

I love how almost everyone is on their feet, seemingly in awe, cameras busy close up, almost as if a crowd suddenly witnessed a man flying thru the air. That's how I'd imagine a Marvel Manhattan crowd on a "typical" day.

You're right - Jordan probably could have done it, as well.

But do note that Howard is five inches taller than Jordan and weighs a good 30-40 pounds more, which makes the fact that he can leap as far as he can even more impressive.

Rare to see a big man do what Howard did here.

That said, yeah, the dunk was more about presentation than actual athleticism. You should look up Howard's LATER dunk on YouTube - it was a lot more impressive, on strictly skill level basis.

It's hard to get the scope of that jump in this picture, though. Very little point of reference. Regardless: that dunk is amazing.
