Nick Cardy's Post-Comic Career is Fascinating
- by Brian Cronin
- in General
I've seen this stuff discussed before (particularly in Michael Eury's excellent Superman book from TwoMorrows), but it was still fun to see George Khoury's interview with Nick Cardy, with a spotlight on Cardy's post comic career, specifically his career doing movie posters. Fascinating stuff.

Hey Cat, here's an idea, read the interview (link right above). Considering you have access to the worldwide web, you should NEVER have to use the words "who is" on here. The short answer to "Who IS Nick Cardy" is that he's one of many old guard comic book artists who doesn't get enough attention these days. Guys like him deserve respect and recognition - all the top ten artists of today owe these guys a debt of gratitude.

When I was about 4 years old, we had a neighbor who, knowing I loved comics, took me to meet her boyfriend who was a comics artist. He showed me some art and gave me a (to my eyes) huge box of old comics. Years later, I realized it was Nick Cardy. About two years ago, he was a guest at a con and I approached him and told him what he'd done 30 years ago. When I mentioned the neighbor's name, he looked over to see if his wife was watching, and pulled out the old girlfriend's picture from his wallet! As an adult, he is one of my favorite artists of the Silver Age. I love his old Teen Titans work.

Tula (aka Aquagirl) as drawn by Nick Cardy is the single prettiest, cutest, and down-right sexiest comic book character ever.
Do not write in to argue the point. You're wrong.
