Do you think “Batman R.I.P.” will basically be the same thing as “The Death of Clark Kent”?

It’ll just be Batman taking a vacation, sunning himself on a Caribbean beach, drinking fuity alcoholic beverages that come in a plastic cup shaped like a palm tree, while a towel boy rubs coconut oil all over his back and he just, y’know, rests. And peacefully.

I’m just curious about it being called “Batman R.I.P.”, not “Bruce Wayne R.I.P.” Perhaps he’s just going to dress up as a different rodent now…

Geez, didn’t Batman just take a whole year off? This guy’s getting lazy.

I keep telling people, it’s just going to be showing us Batman’s workout regimen. He’ll be working out on a treadmill for six solid issues.
That’s right, it’s “Batman: Running In Place”!

I’m fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, “The Death of Clark Kent”?

“Death of Clark Kent” was just a way to keep DC Comics on CNN after the death of Superman. Remember Jimmy Olsen’s firing making the nightly news? Batman RIP looks like it actually serves a purpose in Morrison’s Unified Theory of Batman.

Same as “The Death of Clark Kent?” Nah. There can be only one Kenny Braverman!!!
No, this’ll be something much cooler and strange.

I think it’ll be more like the death of Captain America.
1, DC won’t mind that same amount of hype and 2, I give Morrison enough credit to expect him to plan it out just as good.

Does this mean Batman will get a mullet?

Thde death-of-Clak-Kent bit nailed it, I’m guessing. They’ve done someone else dressing up like Batman, so maybe now they’ll do Bruce dressing up like somoene else. Superman had Gangbuster, Spider-Man had his non-Meltzer Identity Crisis — it’s a decent long-term storyline for a big-name hero.

IIRC, the future solicits mention both Batman and B. Wayne.
Maybe they get split in half by a Grantmorrison-izer Machine?

I think Batman will really die. For good.
I also think Final Crisis will be the last crossover/event comic DC will ever do.
And “One More Day” was a good idea.
I’m an idiot.

Someone needs to make a wiki page for Morrison’s Unified Theory of Batman

Um, the last line in post #11 should read: “No, this’ll be something much cooler and strangeER.”

Hey, I kinda liked “Death of Clark Kent”.
Well, parts of it, anyway. It was quite long.

No, seeing as how it’s written by Morrison I highly doubt it’ll be overwrought, full of terrible dialogue, and built around comedic misses between characters. Also, it won’t waste a villain who was built up as a big deal within the space of a year.
Since it’s coming out in 2008, not 1995, it will be unlikely to sport one of the worst gimmick covers ever (seriously DC, the holofoil story titles on Superman #100, Flash #100, and JLA #100 were godawful, even for that trend).

in a newsarama interview with morrison, he said that Batman will not die, and that death would be a piece of cake compared to what Batman will be g0ing through. I am just paraphrasing, though.
