Director Timur Bekmambetov is known to make very loose adaptation. The Night Watch movies are very very loosely based on the books so I'm not really surprised that he will do the same to Wanted.

It is, IMHO, a good thing since literal adaptations don't take into account the specificities of the medium. The liberties he take with the source material will probably results in a better movie.

But, that's just my opinion.

Millar himself seems super-happy with it.

I wouldn't lend the comics to anyone who wasn't well versed in comics history - they wouldn't get it, so why expect a direct translation to work on-screen?

people are angry? that's just silly. They were never going to make this a movie about Lex Luthor and Catwoman - not even in a broadest sense. I recently had the opportunity to read the comics, and I can totally see how this will work without supervillains...

"It seems like a decent enough action film".

My thoughts exactly - it sure ain't Wanted the comic, but it looks a good, fun flick.

Many are angry that it's clearly not that faithful to the source material and I can see their point - I like to think this is "inspired" by the comic, rather than any kind of spot-on adaptation.

Putting it back to June isn't a great idea IMHO though, as I don't think it will survive at the box office if it goes head-to-head with the summer blockbusters.

Hope I'm wrong.
