Aw, man...

This is horrible and utterly unexpected. He was a wonderful artist.

Just saw this news on Mark Evanier's blog... he's got a long post about Dave. Damn, that's depressing news.

I remember The Rocketeer way back when it first came out at Pacific Comics and then Comico.

A truly gifted artist and writer.

He will be missed.

This sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks.

Such sad, sad news.

I was always awed by his work.

OK, whoever's in charge, that's enough deaths of amazing comics creators this year. Actually, it's two too many.

First Steve Gerber, now Dave Stevens. And we're only approaching mid-March? Crap.

Jeez, it's getting as bad being a comics fan as it is being a wrestling fan.

Well, that sucks. Best wishes to Dave's family.

He was only 52, BTW.

Such sad news. I didn't even know he was ill.

I'll forever be greatful to him for his lovely ink line (such an inspiration in my own artwork), the Betty Page revival, and the wonderful character of The Rocketeer.

His work was always so gorgeous. Wish there had been more of it.

Only a few days ago I found myself thinking about Dave Stevens, wondering if he was working on anything.

This is just awful, awful news.

Along with Steve Gerber's passing, this year is shaping up to a bad one.
