Marvel is doing a pretty neat thing, as they have a prequelologue to Secret Invasion up at their website here.

It’s not a freakin’ prequel. It’s a prelude.

It’s titled prequel, right?

Yeah, but they’re using the word *wrong*. A prequel comes out after the thing it’s set before, like Phantom Menace. This is just a prelude, or a prologue.

Haha! “Prequel” “Who Do You Trust” That cover is pretty bad.
Is this going to be part of issue #1? The art looks good.

Huh. They’be changed it to Prologue on their site. Looks like someone at Marvel was reading this site!

Is that Leinil Yu art? If so I’d have to congratulate whoever inked it! It looks unusually smooth and fluid, compared to what I’ve seen from him before.

SPOILER
Um, so that character was attacked a year ago and no one noticed? I guess that he or she could have been replaced with a Skrull. Looks interesting, but that bar scene was pretty painful. Bad dialouge, and would the world’s premier espionage organization really all hang out in semi-uniform at a sports bar?

I wasn’t too crazy about the “Skrulls hidden among us” concept in Secret Invasion when it was first done by DC Comics 20 years ago in the Millennium crossover series. I wonder if they will chant “No man escapes the Skrulls”…
Oh, how far the House of Ideas has fallen…

They kinda missed the whole grabbing people early on with the story - nothing in the few pages I saw that would make me want to register to read more, let alone pay money to read it.
It’s like the Bill Jemas ‘write like it’s Star Wars’* mentality is still going on at Marvel, and they’ve still not figured out that Star Wars opens with the ‘FUCK YEAH!’ moment of the big ship going overhead and then a fight scene.
*We all remember that one right?

God save us from Star Wars fans.

That aimed at me?
I used the example because it was the one the old Publisher at Marvel famously used when launching the Epic line of books a few years ago.
Maybe God save us from people trolling blogs to be snarky is more appropriate?

I don’t know if that was aimed at you FGJ, but if it was, I’m with you. You need to grab your audience at the start, or they’re not going to stay with you until you may casually decide to possibly now get their interest. …soon.
That said: I registered and got all the pages for free.

Chuck D: I am registered and story ended in p. 7 with “To Be Continued” after “Val” stabs Dum Dum and shape shifts to look like him.
I guess you count the cover, credits page and the DCU commercial in the end?
