I’m in no way “assuming” that it’s anyone else’s “responsibility”. I’m just pointing out that it would be, you know, nice, to add the context. I was asking a favour, not demanding something as a right.
As I explained, as I started reading CSBG back before it became part of CBR, I always go to CBR *through* CSBG, so even if I were to make it an obligatory daily stop, it would always be second, and posts here maybe shouldn’t just assume that the entire readership is coming here through the link on the main CBR page.

Phoenix in her first run wasn’t Jean Grey, who was in a cocoon from X-Men 101 til just before X-Factor 1. Though with all the reboots and resurrections, that may have changed.

Why is Jean twice on the cover (bothe in her original costume and as Phoenix) or am I missing sometihng?

Hey Apodaca (or Dan, is it? I don’t know whether I rate calling you that), good point. You’d think that my obvious interest in the Good Comics blog (I’ve been reading since the Blogspot era too) would translate to broadening my horizons, but for some reason, it just doesn’t. I’m not sure if I can explain it, but I pretty much get all my comics news and blog talk from this blog and The Beat’s. I very occasionally (maybe once a week) check Kalinara’s, Calvin Pitt’s, Johanna Draper’s, and Dave Carter’s.

It’s not that I don’t like comics enough or wouldn’t find more articles interesting, but I’ve just got too many other internet interests and too little time, so I kinda put minimal effort in. I tend to enjoy some of the diversity of posting here (especially Burgas’ non-superhero stuff and I’m enjoying “Manga before Flowers”) and I like some of Heidi’s longer-form articles. So I guess I’ve just found my comfort zone and haven’t felt the need to branch out (though i will follow links to interesting articles discussed on these blogs…).

Anyway, does that make sense? I suddenly feel kinda bad for not giving more writers a shot.

Apparently Alex Ross hasn’t seen what the X-Men look like since the early ’90s. Writers get shit on for not doing any research but all the artist has to do is look a pictures! It’s silly of marvel to promote a huge issue like number 500 of one of rtheir top series with images that people may not recognize.

Generally it looks good. Cyclops’ optic blast looks rather odd, though, as if he’s trying to shoot Colossus in the leg.

I guess I disagree with their idea of a “special” comic. It seemed more like they were saying “A cover by Alex Ross, oh yeah and an issue of Uncanny X-Men comes with it” rather than “We have a kick ass Issue 500 and on top of that a cover by Alex Ross”

Maybe I’m just being grumpy about this, but was commentary on a COVER really needed? I mean he basically just said “I painted this.” Sure it’s a nice picture and all but so what? Alex Ross does covers all the time, why was this one cover special?
