Maybe it’s because “Martian Manhunter” is no longer politically correct and “Martian Personfinder” doesn’t have the same ring to it.

When they’re facing enemies and/or around people that don’t know the character(s)’s real name, then yes. Other than that, I don’t mind. I don’t expect Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent to be in the same room in their civilian guises and call each other Batman and Superman. That’s ridiculous. When they’re “in character” and alone or with other superheroes that know their IDs and use real names, that’s fine by me.

Because the branding for the character has said “Martian” and the character is known as “Martian” in the minds of non-comic book reading people who can’t possibly comprehend that the actual name of the character is J’onn J’onnz even though the title of the book is different from the character name… so they started calling the character Martian to put it all in line.

(Yeah, I’m still ticked off about the whole calling Captain Marvel ‘Shazam’ thing)…

I don’t know why. But given all the dumb things they’ve done to J’onn over the past two years are we really surprised?
