What’s even more impressive than those who correctly identified Steve Dillon, which, in retrospect, seems obvious –
is the fact that people were able to pinpoint exactly what issues these were from based on a few panels!

What I want to know is was he inking himself? The top stuff looks like he’s been reading alot of Frank Bellamy stuff and the second lot looks as if its inked by either David Lloyd or John Stokes (who went on to do the Black Knight stuff in Marvel UKs Hulk Weekly (I think it was). Its only the face (the one is close up to the left of Antman laying down) that for me gives it away as Dillon.

Some of his early work on Judge Dredd was amazing and his stuff on Abslom Daak Dalek Killer likewise.

Yeah, my first initial thought was that it was Starlin, but a couple more closer looks made me see that it was Dillon. What did it was the “Fury gets on with the job” panel…there’s no mistaking Dillon’s style in that face.

Man, I can’t put anything over on you people! Yes, that’s Steve Dillon from the Hulk UK magazine. I saw these in the latest issue of Back Issue magazine (#28), where I was informed that Dillon got this gig when he was 16 years old. Holy crap! Greg Hatcher must have taught his class!

Steve Dillon? Like I have any clue who that is, though most likely I own & have read at least a few comics he’s drawn.

I was gonna say the top page reminded me vaguely of John Severin, but then there are days — WEEKS — where just about everything decent reminds me of John Severin, just as there are days — WEEKS — when just about all halfway-relevant music from around 1990-on sounds like Sonic Youth to me. (Not that I’m a particular SY fan, at least post-SISTER, by any means. John Severin, in contrast, is my favorite artist ever.)

Is it Steve Dillon? I’m not basing it on the artwork itself, but he spelling of “orgnisation” makes me think it’s a British artist, and I know Dillon did some Nick Fury stories for Marvel UK.

David beat me to it. And he’s right as well: the first page is from the Nick Fury story in Hulk UK #1, the second is from the Ant-Man story in #49. (It was weekly, so that was less than a year later.)
