That's a good question, Stephane. When I was writing this, I did a quick search for them, and other than a post on Simone's Women in Refridgerators site, I haven't seen anything about them recently. I wondered the same thing myself.

I just checked my old copies and HOLY HECK it was a creator owned series. So there's no real excuse for Heck' not coming back.

I have no idea where my copies of this are, and that makes me sadder than I care to admit. Worse, I think I've had and lost most of them at least once.

I did see on a blog (I think "Everyday is Like Wednesday" but don't hold me to that) that Heckler had a cameo in JLA: Welcome to the Working Week. He needs more.

God, I love this comic to pieces, and I'm so glad it's been shown the love here. Also, great analysis about the "big themes" behind it, it's so easy to dismiss as just a humor comics ( which it is ), but it works in layers, as any good fiction should. I haven't done a re read in ages ( The Top 100 list made me do my annual Ambush Bug re read ), but I'm picking it as soon as I get some time ( fact: all my Giffen comics are stored in an easy to get shelf, except for JLI/E/A and all his Legion iterations, that are hard bound. Yes, I'm sick ) .

i agree that that Ambush Bug got kind of pessimistic and bitter towards the end, and that's why as excited as i am about the upcoming Ambush Bug Year None, i'm a bit trepidatious about what kind of tone the book might have, especially considering the recent tenor of the DCU as a whole.

Haha, I forgot about Still Alive Retirement Village. If only one comic could come back, I'd want it to be this one. Issue 2 is like the best thing ever.

And Sijo- I'm manic depressive and Giffen is my fave creator ever (writing and art) so you may be onto something there.

Giffen has always been about extremes to me: I either like his stuff, or hate it. Ambush Bug was originally very funny, then it got all weird and pessimistic. Legion of Superheroes had some incredibly cool art- and then everything started looking half-drawn, especially during "Adult Legion." Bwa-Ha -Ha Justice League was fun- but Lobo was terrible. I can't help but wonder if the man suffers from some kind of manic-depression that affects his art (and sense of humor.)

The comic shop I frequented a decade ago had an absurd number of copies of Heckler #4&6 in their quarter bin. Good stuff to be sure, but I was never sure why they had that many and why it was just those two issues.
