Yeah, I always thought that the whole "vampire-like scientifically-created, set apart from both humans and proper vampires" angle made him much more interesting, and moving him towards being just another generic vampire type was just a stupid squandering of the character's potential. I suppose it was a response to one of those flare ups of interest in vampires that happen from time to time, but it was still just a waste of the character.

Wasn't Morbius created in to order to liberalize the code? My understanding was that he was created in such a way that he skirted the the definition of a vampire frowned upon by the code, which was vampiric creatures of a supernatural nature. Morbius's scientific origins weren't covered by the code and hence was able to slip past as a protest to the code's conservative nature.

SanctumSanctorumComix - I believe it happened in Blade's recent solo book, but don't know th numbers of the issues (not much to pick from, #1-12).

My only favorite issue of Paul Jenkins' Spectacular Spider-Man series (other than #27, his and Mark Buckingham's farewell from the character) was #14 with artist Paolo Rivera and pitted Spidey against Morbius. It was more a story about the battle and Peter in the eyes of a disabled young man.

"Recently, he showed up working for SHIELD against Blade - that was interesting, I’ll admit."

Might I ask WHERE this took place?
I know Blade has been popping up recently in Marvel Comics Presents... was it there?

Thanks.

Nice write-up. But. Would you please get back to your "JUDGING BOOKS BY THEIR COVERS" feature?
