Comic Book Alphabet of Vampires – W
First Second Books’ Vampire Month is over, but we are still going!
Here is a representative of a group of vampires!
Enjoy!
Whipsnake of the Vamps

Whipsnake was one of the Vamps, a group of biker vampires who starred in a series of mini-series in the late 90s from Vertigo, written by Elaine Lee and drawn by Will Simpson.

Howler, Screech, Whipsnake, Skeeter and Mink were the five Vamps, vampires who killed their master and went on the run – and hijinks ensue!

They had three series, one of which was about them trying to break into movies…

And one about Halloween (with Quitely covers!!)

They seemed marketable enough, yet they only received one trade collection!

I’ve never read it, but it sounds like a concept you could do a fair bit with.

“Alphabet is real.”
- John Lennon (1940-1980)
Read the first series, never did go back again.

Is 1994 the “late 90s”?

The latter two mini-series came out in the late ’90s; I think they were all a couple years apart.

Great covers, terrible series. Sorry!
Best,
