Yeah, I'm actually very excited for Yen Plus magazine myself. They have some decent stuff lined up for the mag.

And a bit of good, though not unexpected TOKYOPOP news today. The editor for Fruits Basket, Rave Master, Tactics, and Saiyuki confirmed that they are all safe from cancellation. I buy FB and Rave, so that's a sigh of relief from me there...

hi MIchelle,

I don't think Chocolat is out yet but should be arriving soon (I got a preview copy and was very happy with it, hope to post soon about the new Ice Kunion/Yen Press releases, which are actually of a higher production quality than when Ice Kunion produced them.)

I'll be sure to do a review of Yen+ once I get my hot little hands on it!

Nice pick. I'm picking up Yen Press's mangazine if you read it and says it's good. But I really am very very interested in the new manga Svetlana is doing for them. Urban fantasy, was it? One of my favorite genres. If it's as funny as Dramacon, except with more balanced drama, I'm golden. Please do a post about it!

I wonder if Chocolat 5 as come out yet? Yen Press site says it's coming in June....That's one I can't wait for, and all the Viz releases sounds amazing. Except for vampire knight (no, I'm not a fan). High School Debut and Nana are MUST-Have (I'm late though..I haven't read volume 10 yet). Honey and Clover and Sand Chronicles are must haves for non subscribers of Shojo beat.

Sorry, just realized I messed up my references in the first paragraph above. By "it" in the second and third sentences, I am referring to BECK. Blame is already completed and not affected by the TP rollbacks.

An editor for Tokyopop once told me they were "disappointed" with the sales of both BECK and Blame!, two books they were looking at to help them keep up with Viz. At the same time, he said sales "weren't awful" and that they were paying attention to the critical praise it was getting. I don't know what that means in the current climate at TP, but I have hopes for its survival. I am more worried about my beloved Kindaichi Case Files, which is already an acknowledged poor seller. It only has 3 more volumes to go too... :(

TP has already confirmed cancellations in their novel line, with Chibi Vampire, Missing, and Gosick all confirmed by translator Andrew Cunningham as biting the dust. I was highly enjoying the Chibi Vampire books and I'm very sad to see them go (especially with the anime also getting cancelled when Geneon went under. It's been a bad year to be an American fan of Chibi Vamp/Karin. Hopefully the manga is still safe.) I had also just picked up the first volume of Gosick as well, and I'm sorry to see it not be continued...
