I just got the sucker in trade, curiosity got to me, and am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

Am I the only one who knows this?

I haven't read Rebirth, so I'm curious: Does it work as a story, or just as a reboot/ continuity fix? I'm interested in your take, Greg.

I do like that cover of Contract. First Salvo has been around in Preview for a little while, but I think they only have one book out right now and now this one. We'll see if they manage to stick around.

That's kind of how I felt, Alan (except I've never seen all of Showgirls). I love the craft that Wood and Kelly put into Local, but I wondered, "Is that it?" It's still an amazing comic, but not as excellent as it could have been.

If I wanted to read about life goes on, I'd write an autobiography and re-read it every month.

CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI: 13 reminds me of THE ORDER in that it's an under-read comic destined to be ignored by the vast majority of the comics reading population because it's too cool to fill its pages with Wolverine. Death for being too hip (at least, that's what I'm assuming judging by reviews I've seen online... I haven't picked it up yet).

I'm not sure if CONTRACT is any good, but that's a striking cover. Very stylish. I must be out of the loop... I haven't heard of First Salvo until just now.

I enjoyed it even more this time, after seeing what Johns did with the concepts and ideas established/foreshadowed in Rebirth. It will be interesting to see what you have to say about it, tell you you're wrong, and escalate a blog war that leads to the fragmentation of the blogosphere into multi-colored factions.

Madeiros posts on a forum I visit, apparently issue #o was supposed to come out before issue #1's initial order deadline, but due to a shipping error it arrived later than desired. It was still on time but the creators DID want it out sooner.
But remember, you still have over a month to ask your comic shop to put in an order, the first issue is slated for late July and even AFTER it has hit the shelves you can still put in a re-order.

Local is a good reason why I'm not a huge fan of "life just happens" kind of fiction. Life happens to everyone, and although Local is put together extremely well, I DO wonder what the point is. I don't think Megan grows up that much. If we're comparing her to her cousin and brother, both of whom seemed far worse off to begin with, she comes off looking well, but overall, I feel like she's still avoiding adulthood. And I never assume things happen off-camera, because we don't know.

Despite that, I still recommend it, because of the fact that we can discuss this and try to deal with Megan. I want to understand Megan better, and I appreciate that Wood and Kelly don't make it easy on us. That's very cool.
