Comic Critics #1!

Here’s the first Comic Critics strip that I was telling you about. It is a humorous look at the comic book world, courtesy of my pals Brandon Hanvey (art) and Sean Whitmore (story). You can follow the strip on its own blog, too – comiccritics.com.

This was really awesome!

So it begins.

Man I hated coloring all those comics in the background.

Darn you, Whitmore!

That’s a good strip. Great job!

I didn’t see anything about it in the latest WIZARD for the Uninformed so I didn’t read it… Even though it was right there. And free. Maybe when the movie comes out if Angelia is cast as the person behind the counter it will then be worth reading.

I see Angelia playing Marrisa as a bookstore undercover agent who has to battle comic clerk/assassin Josh, as played by George Clooney, for the fate of the world of comics.

I justed noticed the comic made the front page of CBR.

Thanks, Jonah.

Sorry, but as this is a Comic Book movie… we must make room for Nick Cage and Ben Aflick (B-Flick) so they will play the part of Josh as a two headed clerk/ assassian.

Damn what a nerdy little comic strip, maybe a little too nerdy?? Well i do read comic reviews now and again, and see it happen well too often, one says burn it, one says love it, its like one man’s trash is another ones treasure, you just gotta decide if your the one to trash or one to pick up the trash and call it gold.

As a former comic shop clerk…that’s pretty much spot-on.

Apparently this website has now jumped the shark. Too bad because I dug the strip. Heh.

Is this a weekly comic?

Nic Cage? Ben Affleck? Angelina Jolie?
I think we’re forgetting someone?

Ron Perlman, bitches!

Great strip, Brandon and Sean.

The comic is weekly. A new one every Wednesday.

Morgan Freeman will have to play a sage mentor role.

Good start boys!

I’ll certainly check it out on wednesdays, seems like a very nice addition. You’re already dirmly at home in CBSG with the Loeb-bashing! ;)

Ugh dirmly=firmly, time to get some coffee I guess.

For the record, I’m not a card-carrying Loeb-basher myself but Ultimates 3 is terrible indeed and a thoroughly justified bashing target.

Oh my. That wasn’t very good.

wow some people are rude. But more importantly they also lack taste.

Anyway, this strip gave me a little chuckle (particularly since I *work* at a comic book store can “hear” some customer saying that last line).

Welcome to the blog, guys!

Both Sean and I used to work at comic shops.

[…] the comic has been getting some good response. Hopefully we can keep it going and get a fan base eargly waiting for the next […]

So that’s what the clerk is thinking about when I pick out comics. I wondered what the heavy sighs meant when he scanned my Ultimates 3, TT, and Hulk.

Great strip.

pretty good humor. has the clerk-esque vibe to it, as stated by others. but that’s what i like.

Not a lot to judge by. I’ll check back because of Brian’s recommendation but there’s nothing there that grabs me so far. It just looks like an ad for itself.

[…] Sean Whitmore (writer) and Brandon Hanvey (artist)! You can check out last week’s debut strip here and read more about Sean and Brandon at the Comic Critics blog […]
