Hm....Honey Hunt? I'm not really fond of that manga. In fact, I've avoided it since the Hot Gimmick disaster (totally infectious, totally wrong). The name reminded me of another manga I really wanted to be licensed though....Honey Bitter! I've been praying for Viz to license this. I mean, Viz, come on, you've got like 10 really famous shoujo series already, you're licensing a few more guaranteed-to-be-popular shoujos, and you're like, everywhere, so why can't you pick up that series to and save me from all this pain? But according to you, Viz doesn't listen to its fans anyway, so I'd be shot down even if thousands of fans requested it...but I knew that already. Gakuen Alice when it first hits you is a children's series, but I think as it goes on...it becomes too dark to really be a children's series. But they SHOULD'VE dubbed it. There's a whole entire wide demographic that hates subs, even though I infinitely prefer them.

Man, Diagoro must be one messed up kid after seeing so much bloodshed as a child. Actually, I remember hearing that both actors who played him in the movies and TV series both ended up getting in serious legal trouble.

And I thought you knew "everything" there is to manga - I'm disappointed in you.

Apparently, they're calling it "Shin Lone Wolf and Cub" in Japan, which follows Diagoro after his father Itto Ogami died in the original series.

The new artist is Hideki Mori, and 6 volumes have been done so far.

Dark Horse Manga had acquired the license to reprint the series, but didn't indicate when it'll be out.

Yeah, I'm still cursing Dark Horse for their treatment of 3x3 Eyes, but then again, they rescued Crying Freeman and did an amazing job with it, so that weights heavily in their favor. Just picked up the first volume of Gantz and highly enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to Ghost Talker's Daydream alot. So, good feelings these days towards DH... Viz. Ugh. Your description of them as the un-fan friendly company confirms what I've long suspected about them. Their corporate backing means they don't have to give a care what people think, as long as kids still line up in droves to buy Naruto and Dragonball and Bleach. They have, seemingly anyway, cut back on their edits in their manga titles, which is an encouraging sign. But they still can't seem to get their anime division's act together. I feel sorry for all the Full Moon and Hikaru no Go fans waiting to hear what the story is with those anime releases...

Angelic Days was based on a dating sim of the same name. So it is probably technically shounen, although since it is romance focused it probably would be categorized as shoujo by most of the manga releasing companies in the US. As Doug said, it is based on the alternate universe in the 2nd (I think) to last episode of the anime. It does tweak some of the elements from that episode however. I read the whole manga and it is mostly romance with a little mech action. It does have some elements of the cost of being a mech pilot on relationships and the like. ADV released all 6 volumes of it in manga form, although at this point it would probably be hard to find. It was pretty good, it had some art problems and for some reason the cover art in particular usually looked poorly drawn. So basically both manga are based on games.

The Eva manga that Dark Horse got was "Eva: Shinji Ikari Raising Project", which is based on a game where the player guides Shinji through his life. (I don't really know how that works as a manga.) The shoujo manga is Angelic Days, which ADV has, and Viz has the original. The original version follows the plot of the anime (with some changes); Angelic Days is based on the alternate universe from the last episode of the anime, and is more of a high school romance with mecha content. They're pretty different in both plot and characterization. (Disclaimer: I'm basing this impression on the first volume, which was serialized in NewType USA, so I don't know how it may have changed past that point; it would be hard to get from the point AD starts to anything much like the anime, though.)
