An Open Letter to Matt Fraction, Alan Davis, Mark Farmer, et al., on Young Avengers Present #6

Dear Creative Team of Young Avengers Presents #6,

If you guys wanna do a run on Young Avengers, or Hawkeye and Ronin Team-Up, or Hawkingbird Don't Sing, or whatever you want to call it, I'm all for that. I will buy variant covers, even if they're really lame, awful Marvel Zombies cover homage crap that I hate, just to support it. I'm pretty much willing to do a lot of horrible things so that a further teaming of you guys on this kind of book. If neccessary, I mean. If I had an absurd amount of money to commission this comic just for my personal amusement, I would do that, but I don't, and that kind of thing would be kind of strange anyway, and Joe Rice might get queasy.

So, in summary, you guys, Young Avengers ongoing, something I'd like to see, I'm willing to do as much as possible from my position as a fifth string blogger to make that happen. Just throwing that out there.

Sincerely,

Brad Curran

You don't post for months, and now you just can't stop?

What's the story Curran?

Also, I'm going to pick up the Young Avengers hardcover, and if I hate it, or even mildly dislike it, I'm blaming you! And you alone!

I only picked 2 issues of this: # 3 & # 6, and I truly enjoyed them.

Not sure if I care about any of the other characters (although, I may have to get the "Young Vision" issue), but I am sorely tempted to get the rest as well.
ANY reason to get these creative teams back together would be welcome.

Totally agree with you. Issue 6 was easily the best of the mini-series. Alan Davis on a new Young Avengers comic would instantly go to the top of my buying list.

I only got this issue because I'll buy anything Fraction writes at this point (Thor: Reign of Blood was AWESOME) and I really liked it. I had no prior exposure to this new Hawkeye, but I enjoyed the story and thought the characters were interesting and well-written. And the art was terrific, as expected. I whole-heartedly second you.

I would pick the Vision crew or this one to pick up where Heinberg left off for a new volume of YA.

I gotta say, though, I hope Clint Barton doesn't stay Ronin forever. Soooooooooo lame.

I'd love to see Fraction take over the Young Avengers franchise after reading YAP#6. If Alan can't take 5 minute saway from TV land to do a volume 2, Marvel should pass the book over to the more than capable hands of Fraction.

Wait, Fraction, Davis and Farmer did a book together? How the hell did I not know about this? That's pairing up a writer and a writer/artist that I will pretty much buy anything they put out. Guess I need to head to my LCS again tomorrow.

I gotta say, though, I hope Clint Barton doesn’t stay Ronin forever.

Forever? In superhero comics? No need to worry, I'd say.

This was probably my favorite Young Avengers anything ever, except for maybe the Winter Soldier special with them in it.

It was really good... but MAN I hate that they call her Hawkeye.

Sigh.

I haven't had a chance to read this issue, but without a glance I would agree. That would be a killer combination for any book really.

Amen to that, Brad! I enjoyed Young Avengers Presents #6 more than I've enjoyed any comic this year. It's always nice when comics can take a pause from the action for some character development and interpersonal drama. Incidentally, Alan Davis is our Guest of Honor at Mid-Ohio-Con 2008, so maybe you should make your case there. Cheers!
