Thanks for the nice review Greg, it's good to see some people are enjoying our work. :D It's hard for small independant creators to be noticed among all those skrulls and new gods.
As for SPARKS being 'another superhero' comic book, I want to point out that this is as much a Noir story (think Philip Marlowe or Sam Spade) as it is a superhero story. The story uses the concept of a superhero (as someone who wants justice... and fame) to better describe the main character, to show how he sees the world, how he lives a life of fantasy. But reality, with all its weight of noir pathos, is going to remind him that he cannot live in a dream.
It's very much a story about one man growing up, getting mature and how everything shifts in perspective around him.
And as in every good noir story there is also a lot of pulp elements, twists and cliffhangers that make for a great read. Head to the catastrophic comics website to read a few pages or thumb through it at your comicshop, I'm sure you will get hooked.

Maybe if Marvel and DC trimmed the useless fat from their lines, and managed to keep it off, there would be more room for one.

Of course we don't, Tom. But it's always interesting when there's an unusual take on a superhero. This comic is more interesting than a great deal of what DC and Marvel are publishing, for instance. Why should they be the ones that survive?

There is already a gadzillion super-heroes books out there.

Do we really, really need another one?

Honestly?!?
