I think the reason my own face is more detailed is that I had afar more experience drawing myself, and I had much more reference materials available (all I had to do was look in a mirror). I only had a couple of chances to sketch "Violet's" face, and I only ever got one photo of her. So I guess it was necessary to simplify her features as much as possible. Not to toot my own horn, but I think it worth mentioning that Chemistry and its companion soundtrack CD won the 2006 Day Prize. The review makes no reference to the soundtrack CD at all---you may not have picked it up, but the comic does explain that the CD's song titles are the same as the chapters in the comic, and that the mood and feel of each song reflects what is happening in its corresponding chapter.
