I was just thinking about the mess that was Countdown when I got my new shipment of comics this week. I’ve decided I’m just ignoring them outright at this point…everyone else seems to be. Piper shows up in Rogue’s Revenge like he had nothing to do with destroying Apokolips, and Jimmy Olsen seems to have forgotten that Superman revealed his secret identity to him (why didn’t that get more press?).

Oh yeah…and the whole subplot with Captain Atom-as-Monarch conquering The Bleed seems to have been abandoned too. Something tells me DC will have Geoff Johns fixing all this next year (what hasn’t he fixed yet?)

I’d love to see a few years from now (heck, I’d love to see it tomorrow, but that isn’t happening yet) some sort of “Life of (Ben) Riley” style expose on just how Countdown turned into the poor project it did. I’d love to hear Paul Dini’s thoughts on the subject — after all, the whole series went out with his name on it.

The whole Jimmy Olsen thing was explained at Comic Con actually. They said when he lost his powers he lost his memory of who Superman is. Its lame, but its their way out of it. They even said they didnt like it (the Superman panel).

So… you shoved your ass into Countdown?

Seriously…8 strips in, can we get some funny?

Or did Countdown eat an ass and make a mess of itself? I don’t get this one either.

Butlast weeks WAS pretty good: Issue one is part 2 of a story.

This strip is like “Penny Arcade”, only about comics and a lot less funny. We’re in 2008, being sarcastic it’s not enough. And I don’t even like DC’s lame crossovers!

I’m sorry, I didn’t explained myself. Being sarcastic IN A CHILDISH WAY is not enough. Sorry.

When he lost his powers he lost the memory of it? Ugh, that is pretty lame. Why couldn’t they just man up and let him actually know Supes is Clark Kent. I think he’s earned it at this point, and it wouldn’t hurt to have one more person helping with excuses to get him out of work.

at least Clark didn’t make a deal with Neron to make him forget.

Childish: yes.

Did I laugh (a lot): yes.

The last panel was an afterthought though.

Totally should be “om nom nom.” This is the internets.

I eagerly await this strip telling an actual, like, joke.

oh come on they’re not all winners, but the letter to Judd Winick was worth a smile or two
