I don't watch anime much anymore, but when I did, I'd usually prefer to watch it before I read the manga. That way, the filler wouldn't bug me so much. :)

Note to those out there who started watching black lagoon before picking up the manga (which is highly likely as the manga is just out), the Manga chapters dont follow the same order as the anime (which i heartily recommend). The first half of the manga follows the first three episodes, where as the second half of the book seems to relate to episodes 8-10.
I know this probablt doesnt apply to most people, but, if you're like me, and have only watched the first disc of the anime so far, and want to watch up to, and ahead of the manga ( not the usual way of doing it, usually its read the manga and then watch the anime, at least for me) but as i started the anime first, I want to get ahead in that before seeing the difference in the manga.
I know this probably doesnt apply to most people, but i just thought i would share, just incase there were any other headcases out there like me.

Koi Cha no Osahou! I had no idea that had been licensed! Honestly I'm surprised I haven't seen more Sakuragi Yaya works on the shelves*, as she's got this exuberance and charisma - and a way of revitalising cheesy tropes - that I can't help but think would really click for a Western readership.

Yuki Kaori... Oh God, I just can't. Her Boys Next Door was the third manga I ever read, and ohhh it could so easily have been my last. Greyscale tones and horrifying levels of angst: that's pretty much all I remember.

*The ghetto-ised shelves you pretend your eyes are only skimming on their way to somewhere far more respectable. Thank you for your mockery, sales assistants!

I'll agree with you about Spiral. I watched the anime and its inconclusive ending had me wondering, "But just what the %@$& are the Blade Children?!?!" So I picked up the manga and was actually a little disappointed with it. I felt it was too melodramatic (even when compared with the anime) and drew small plot points out too long without spending enough time on the main mystery. Thankfully, I also felt like volume 4 was an improvement, with some meaningful things at stake, and some smart moves on the parts of Ayumu that didn't involve whining about inferior he was too SuperFantasticOlderBrother. Having seen the anime, I know the outcome of the cliffhanger already, but for the first time since the manga started coming out, I find myself anxiously anticipating the next volume.

And oh Black Lagoon. I'm going to my comic shop later today to pick up my copy and I plan on tearing into it as soon as I get home! I've been excited for that ever since it was announced...
