First! and yeah. where's the Flash in all that porn. certainly someone who can move at the speed of light should be involved in at least an orgy!

brian

Hi-freakin-larious.

'nuff said

Is the irony that he can't believe how many Batman pornos there are, while DC continually publishes an insane amount of comics featuring Batman?

If so, then this is kinda funny.

I don't get it, it's not funny, and in the final panel he should have said "Where's my Wonder Woman porn?"

There, I managed to get all the usual complaints into one comment. That said, I'm enjoying this comic, and this week was pretty funny too.

jazzbo: I contemplated doing that exact same thing! You forgot: "The art sucks!" and "It's not about comics!"

What's with all the negativity? This week was all going well until Jazzbo came along. Though if Tekende really couldn't figure out the punchline, I feel sorry for any future employers of his.

Fine outing this week Sean and Brandon.

Did somebody seriously say, "First!"? Christ.

I honestly could have gone without knowing how much Batman porn existed in the world. Like the comic, though.

i don't get it, or, if i do, i'm not laughing. well 11 outta 12 ain't bad! and the art is still solid :D

Oh ho ho, how droll, Mike Z! I didn't say anything disparaging about the comic or about you, and yet you feel the need to call me stupid. This is perfectly reasonable. In Bizarro world.

If you read my post, you can see that, to the best of my knowledge, I DID figure out the punch line (GASP!). If I interpreted incorrectly, then the strip isn't very clear as to what the joke is. You'll notice that I said this was a pretty funny strip. In fact, my post was pretty complimentary! So I'm not sure why you had to go and insult my intelligence.

Anyway, my current employers love me.

Mike Z,

I think the two comments above you are actually making fun of past negative comments.

I don't get the last line. Can someone explain it to me?

Greg, are you criticizing my criticizing of all the people who have been criticizing the Comic Critics?

Typing that sentence made my head hurt.

The way I took it was he was looking for the review he made of Batman on this site, but no one is interested in anything but Batman porn.

It could also mean that he was looking for his review, but actually ended up looking at a bunch of porn instead of trying harder to find his review.

There were a couple other angles I thought the first time I read it, but they escape me now.

I just noticed the poster in the background. Do you guys (Sean and Brandon) go to that site often, or was the poster inspired by the comments on the FF 1234 review?

I don’t get the last line. Can someone explain it to me?

Basically, she's an indie comic fan, and she's feels that there are too many comics devoted to Batman. So basically what Tekende said.

The joke works slightly better if you replace Batman with Wolverine.

I used th "Magneto was Right" poster because I wanted a cool looking poster for the background and thought it fit the bill.

It worked. Good strip.

@joshschr: That's called the setup. The punchline is what happens at the end of a joke. Focus on the last panel, and see if you can catch the humor. That's a pretty good general rule: a joke has setup, and punchline.

How so many reviews can be devoted to one character? What Thok and Tekende said? I know I'll hit the right answer eventually.

I blame Dane Cook for all of this.

I've liked the previous strips, but I really don't understand the use of the word "irony" here either.

How is it ironic that there's a lot of Batman porn?

With all the sarcastic comments, I honestly can't tell which people (if any) are asking legitimate questions.

Presuming people ARE asking this legitimately, the joke is as follows:

Josh, a superhero comic fan, is irked at the large amount of Batman-related porno material, citing the absurdity of devoting that much material to one character.

Marissa is pointing out that that is an ironic complaint coming from a superhero fan, since there are a large amount of comic books devoted to Batman.

"How is it ironic that there’s a lot of Batman porn?"

Yeah, I'm not seeing the irony either, at least irony as I understand the concept in humour writing. I see an attempt at humourous metaphor, though. I can see it being funny, I guess, but the mention of "irony" had me scratching my head for a second.

There's not enough Batman porn on the internet. ;-)

I got it, it just wasn't funny.

Might've worked better if the poster in the background had helped set the joke up more directly.

Brian has explained the use of the term "irony" correctly...
Might be a bit confusing if you understand irony in the same was as Alanis Morisette does (i.e., wrongly)

Magneto WAS right.

The confusion comes in because she's referring to "the irony" instead of "the irony of what you're saying." By saying "the irony," she seems to be talking about the abundance of Batman porn and not his comment.

If she said, "The irony of your statement is completely lost on you, isn't it?" then it would have nailed the punchline more directly.

But I'm just being pedantic now, sorry.

Don't worry, Tim, pedantic is the name of the game in the comments sections of these pieces.
