The confusion comes in because she's referring to "the irony" instead of "the irony of what you're saying." By saying "the irony," she seems to be talking about the abundance of Batman porn and not his comment. If she said, "The irony of your statement is completely lost on you, isn't it?" then it would have nailed the punchline more directly. But I'm just being pedantic now, sorry.

Brian has explained the use of the term "irony" correctly...
Might be a bit confusing if you understand irony in the same was as Alanis Morisette does (i.e., wrongly)

"How is it ironic that thereâ€™s a lot of Batman porn?" Yeah, I'm not seeing the irony either, at least irony as I understand the concept in humour writing. I see an attempt at humourous metaphor, though. I can see it being funny, I guess, but the mention of "irony" had me scratching my head for a second.

With all the sarcastic comments, I honestly can't tell which people (if any) are asking legitimate questions.

Presuming people ARE asking this legitimately, the joke is as follows:

Josh, a superhero comic fan, is irked at the large amount of Batman-related porno material, citing the absurdity of devoting that much material to one character.

Marissa is pointing out that that is an ironic complaint coming from a superhero fan, since there are a large amount of comic books devoted to Batman.

@joshschr: That's called the setup. The punchline is what happens at the end of a joke. Focus on the last panel, and see if you can catch the humor. That's a pretty good general rule: a joke has setup, and punchline.

Basically, she's an indie comic fan, and she's feels that there are too many comics devoted to Batman. So basically what Tekende said.

The joke works slightly better if you replace Batman with Wolverine.

The way I took it was he was looking for the review he made of Batman on this site, but no one is interested in anything but Batman porn.

It could also mean that he was looking for his review, but actually ended up looking at a bunch of porn instead of trying harder to find his review.

There were a couple other angles I thought the first time I read it, but they escape me now.
