Bryan,

Dawn was definitely hated by a large segment of the Buffy fandom from her debut in Season 5 through at least Season 6 (and part of 7). Her shrieky "Get Out! Get OUT! GET OUT!" scream became the rallying cry of a lot of fans who disliked her -- or, to be fair, the writing that "created her." So it isn't a new phenomenon.

I haven't been reading the comic (I became VERY disillusioned with Joss' writing in Seasons 6 and 7, as well as Angel S5), but I have heard all the hullabaloo over the centaur comic cover.

Take it and run,

I never had any of the Dawn hate that the rest of the world seems to have. I didn't even know it existed until the comics came out. I also watched Buffy in a vacuum, though, because none of my friends watched and I wasn't doing the message board thing back then. I guess since I remembered her from Pete and Pete she never bothered me.

I stand by the hotness.

Why do people leave links to their sites in comments? Does it work? Has anyone reading comments ever followed a link?

" Michelle Trachtenburg is like your friend’s little sister who grew up super hot. Remember when she used to wear that cast on Pete and Pete? And then in Euro Trip BAM! Hot body, no cast. "

For me, it's hard to imagine Trachtenburg as anything other than that annoying little sister who I wanted to lock in the attic so me and my friend could go to the arcade in peace. Dawn not only joined my list of Most Annoying Characters in TV History, but topped it, and still holds the #1 space. ( Not even Scrappy-Doo can dethrone Dawn ).

But that's besides the point to the fact that we're only seeing half of Trachtenburg's likeness in Buffy Season Eight, the other half being something out of Equus. From giantess to centaur, Dawn's transformations seem to
follow no logic beyond offering different fetishes, and I assume that she'll become some sort of hentai tentacle monster in the next issue.

"Seriously, though; I only thought Trachtenburg being sexualized in Road Trip was creepy. "

Keep in mind that this is many years after Harriet the Spy, so I'm not weird.

Re: Fray's dialogue in Buffy, I don't remember it being quite so impenetrable in her solo series. They seem to be deliberately punching up a few centuries of linguistic shift to underscore the gulf between the two slayers.

I think it's also the last issue of this particular incarnation of Brave & the Bold, Brad, as we next get a few months of fill-ins before JMS comes on board, bringing the Archie superheroes with him.
