Alan Brennert was always fantastic. A great breadth of knowledge and respect for past continuity and still creating great stories. I also really enjoyed his Batman & the Metal Men team up that brought back “Nameless.”

I loved team-up books too, especially DC Comics Presents and Marvel Team-Up; I didn’t like Brave and Bold as much (I was never a big Batman fan) but I got it too. It was a chance to see some truly unusual pairings (this was before crossovers were all the rage.) I tried to collect entire runs but newsstand distribution here was spotty and I failed to complete any. Still, those are some of the most treasured comics in my personal collection.

Praise for it these days is coals to Newcastle, but reading the Batman/Rock/Aparo B&B totally broke my brain in a good way when I was a kid.
