One of the Coolest Comic Art Websites Ever
Steven Gettis has a website where he posts drawings he has accumulated over the past decade where he asks comic book artists to draw their favorite literary author/creator/character.
He has well over a hundred drawings on the site, and let me tell you, it is fascinating.
Click here to see the site (which is amusingly titled, "Hey Oscar Wilde, It's Clobberin' Time!!!", and read more for a few samples that I picked to show y'all from the artists already featured on A Month of Comic Art Stars.
Colleen Coover's Elizabeth Bennet

Steve Lieber's Dunstan Ramsay

Ryan Sook's Erle Stanley Gardner

Christine Norrie's Nancy Witford

There's quite a few more artists who will be showing up in the Month of Art Stars who are also featured here (there's also some HUGE names here, like Alex Toth, Bill Sienkiewicz, Michael Golden, Walt Simonson, Mike Allred, Barry Windsor Smith, etc.)
Be sure to check it out!!

I take it that the artist who drew Howard Stern didn't quite understand the assignment.
I *hope* that's the case, at least.

Maybe Private Parts was a huge influence.

Impressive site!
Dan, actually Patrick Morgan did understand the assignment. Stern's a 2 time best selling author. Seems he's in the right to me.
Brian, another fine entry. Perhaps you should highlight people's excellent art sites, like The Cliff Guy and others for a week or 2.

Probably you're right. I know Stern has written a book (didn't realize he'd done two), though I guess I have a hard time thinking of him as a "creator," assuming the books in question were nonfiction. That's just my take on things, though.

Great call, Brian. What an eye opener. I forget sometimes that comic artists are ARTISTS. So much great technique, expressive power and humor.

Brian, I can never thank you enough for linking to this site! For book and comic nerds like my wife and I, "Awesome" doesn't begin to cover this.
I am jealous that he got a "Sam Spade" by Scott Morse. My hand to God, that was going to be my next request from Morse If I ever got to see him again.
