Comments on: In which I read several of Larry’s comics, perhaps enticing you to buy some and thereby putting money in his son’s college fund

Nobody was, I think, the first time I stood up and took notice of Adlard's talents. I've been a fan ever since. I vaguely recall the property being optioned by some production company to be turned into a TV series (maybe?). I wonder if that's still happening. I'm not sure how the mix of occult and noir would translate to the small screen.

Codeflesh #8 is truly masterful, a superlative effort by Casey and Adlard. It's a perfect example of what comics can -- and should -- be. The only limitations to how stories can be told in the medium are self-imposed, so it's always refreshing to see a creative team take a step away from the standard format. Also: I still need to pick up a copy of Nixon's Pals; I don't know what I've been waiting for.

I found Monster Attack Network to be a fun romp -- a completely breezy read in the vein of your standard summer blockbuster. It's a diverting piece of throwaway entertainment. But, yeah, I can see how giving it any kind of critical thought would completely ruin the experience. It doesn't hold up to scrutiny. And, Sorat's art was a bit of a burden at times; the characters were expressive and dynamic, but the action did get too frenzied occasionally. I'll have to give Giantkiller a try.

I haven't read Dugout; however, I did enjoy Beechen's Hench, about the miserable life of a supervillain henchman. As you said in the Codeflesh review, Greg, the pathetic villains are often the most interesting ones, and Hench's lead couldn't be much more pathetic -- a powerless lackey who constantly gets beaten down. It's worth a look if you haven't already checked it out.

Tom, Casey mentioned more Codeflesh at the end of this interview at CBR: https://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=16794

I haven't seen any details since, but I'm really interested in seeing how Casey and Adlard follow that final chapter...

And thanks for the mention, Greg.

I reviewed Rock Bottom when it came out, Tom. What was that, early last year? Late 2006? I can't remember. But it's in the archives somewhere! I liked it too, although I didn't love it.

I remember reading Nobody and some of Codeflesh, the rest I haven't read.

I thought I read about a rumour that Casey and Adlard was bringing back Codeflesh either in an on-going series or a limited series.

I'm surprised that you haven't mentioned their most recent collaboration, an ogn called Rock Bottom.
That was a really good one.
