The just-solicited Ythaq book will be the first Arleston ever to be published in the US (as far as I know). Arleston writes incredibly funny action-adventure comics tailor-made for the same audience that typically reads super-heroes. I look forward to see how well he does on the US!

I do wonder why Soleil kept its big sellers (like most Arleston books) in reserve and went mostly with his more “adult” stuff (like UW1), though.

I liked what David did, but I didn’t like the fact that the Secret Invasion part felt tacked on. That’s what I mean.

Second, I like that David went and made his Secret Invasion tie-ins about the characters rather than about the crossover. Yes, it doesn’t affect the main series, but if I cared about that, I’d be reading the main series. I’m reading She-Hulk, and I want a story that affects She-Hulk and the people around her (in this case, Jazinda). I got that, so I’m happy.

What was so great about the Iron Fist book? I mean, it’s not bad, but it’s just a pulp story that uses all the stereotypes of the genre and ends with absolutely no surprises. I’ll admit, Northlanders isn’t that surprising either, and Wood pulls back a bit on what made the first eight issues so good and just lets his Vikings go nuts, but to say the Iron Fist book is “by far” the best book of the week is odd. Why did you love it so much? That’s fine if you do, but I’m curious as to why.

That’s what I said at my shop too, Alan. The owner showed me both covers, and I said, I have to get that one!

As for buying tie-ins to Secret Invasion and not actually buying Secret Invasion itself, well, I’m buying SI: Thor because it’s more Fraction-y Thor, which is always good.

My feelings exactly, and very close to my exact words at the LCS. The variant cover is more action, just as Zorro is meant to be, but how many times in life is one going to get the opportunity to see cover art of poetry reading Don Diego de la Vega?

From Moonstone this week came the Zorro prose anthology book. More than a dozen Zorro stories with one illustration for each story (I think. I don’t have it handy.).

You’re right, of course, about the Secret War silliness. I’ve mentioned before that its intrusion made me temporarily drop INCREDIBLE HERCULES (though I did go back & buy the post-Skull most recent issue after your review last week told me it was safe to do so … glad I did), & I’ve done the same with MS. MARVEL. Off the top of my head, I think those are the only 3 somewhat mainstream Marvel Universe titles I ever buy, anyway.
