If I were Marvel Studios, at this point I would start using a big Wheel O' Directors to decide who makes their movies, and then giving that director a full leash. I'd rather we get some variety than just another wave of good-but-not-great movies under the Iron Man formula.

What about Thor implies that it *should* have CGI?

Well, I think the rainbow bridge into Asgard for a start...

While he hasn't done a lot of CG work, Branagh's Hamlet used a lot of greenscreen and special effects.

I think this could be great. Henry V, Dead Again and Peterâ€™s Friends are all wonderful films. Even his the ones where his reach exceeds his graspâ€“ Mary Shelleyâ€™s Frankenstein, Hamletâ€“ are worth watching just to see what heâ€™s reaching for. The only one of those that is close to what Thor would be is his Frankenstein adaptation, and you may think it was worth watching, but it wasn't good. Woody Allen is a good director, but I wouldn't want him on an Avengers movie. (Although oddly, if it was an adaptation of Benids' Avengers, a resurrected Altman would be a good choice).

Sorry, I think I was in a pissy mood when I posted that. And I really should have posted it on the Betty Brant post instead if I was going to post at all. But as far as Iâ€™m concerned, a Thor movie isnâ€™t even going to be made until they start shooting.

I think Branagh is a brilliant choice. He's an interesting filmmaker who could use a good mainstream hit. I think he'd a have a good feel for the material.

I guess it's just me, but I've always LIKED Kenneth Branagh, both as an actor and as a director.

Now, whether he's going to be able to pull off a THOR movie (or at least one that is recognizable to comic fans) is another matter.
