Kubert adds a touch of well-drawn class to anything he touches. Even when the written material clearly doesn't deserve it...

My heart still sings after seeing Ka-Zar and Zabu huddled together like that....

I tend to think of the Bruce Jones/Brent Anderson Ka-Zar as THE Ka-Zar, but from what I saw-- #1 to #6 or so-- Waid's and Kubert's was a nice little coda to it. I didn't think that book lasted long enough for them to get replaced.

Good to know, Omar.

Tom: It's nothing really that stunning. I wasn't protesting the unfair practices of the government, for instance. In 1990 Penn State beat Notre Dame in Indiana when the Irish were ranked #1. A year later, at home, they pummelled them. The students (of which I was one) rushed the field at the end of the game, because we hated Notre Dame and were happy to see them go down hard. When we tried to take down the goalposts, the cops tear-gassed us. Or maced us. They claimed in the newspapers that they didn't do one (I can't remember if the official word was that they didn't "mace" us or didn't "tear-gas" us), but whichever they claimed they didn't do, they did the other. I didn't get a lot of it, but it did get in my mouth, and it tasted terrible. My friend, who was a few feet away, got it much worse. His contact lens looked pretty cool, though.

I miss college. Good times!

The HE's exposure to Isotope E in the Quicksilver series of the time had him physically and mentally shooting up and down the evolutionary scale, and he spent a lot of time with a gorilla body and his HE psionic powers as a result.

I actully think that wasn't HE, but one of his many creations, who somehow filled in for him or mascarade for him. I can't remember, if it ever was resolved or talked about again.

I, too, wonder when the High Evolutionary became an ape. Not that anything's wrong with that-- apes are cool-- it's just a bit odd.

More than that, though, I'm dying to ask about the circumstances under which you were tear-gassed(!).
