Excellent research. I read these hoping to find a nugget that I was unaware of. In this case I find that I was unaware of an entire cartoonist. Thanx for the update.
His work obviously had an influence. The government is always concerned about "those damn pictures."

Hey Brian, David Lloyd George was Welsh not English. Probably better to say British in this context.

Good article. Very clear influence from Bolshevik propaganda of the time and perhaps also from Goya.

What leaps out at me from the Miners' strike cartoon, is how much it resembles German and Russian propaganda artwork... Visually striking, strong, flowing lines...

Wonder if they shared an influence...

I wouldn't think a guy named Minor would want to draw about a miner's strike, just becuase of all the confusion it could cause. Then again, plenty of guys named Payne become dentists...

You know, I wonder if David Lloyd's influenced by Robert Minor. Some of Lloyd's art (especially from V for Vendetta, and The Horrorist) is similiar to some of the above cartoons.
