To be fair, Incredible Herc also turned out a good “morose event” arc for Secret Invasion. Pak’s pretty great all around these days.

I am amazed at my ability to piss off people with what I consider innocuous throwaway lines.

We’re taking turns this weekend. I expect an angry mob along any time now to tell me and Burgas how unenlightened we are for suggesting snuff comics are repugnant.

It was 1992, man. A different Bush was in the White House. It was before the retro movement in comics, before it became cool to be a conservative, in a time when you didn’t have half the fandom screaming for the removal of all sex and all politics from any comics that could somehow end in the hands of the kids.

I have one issue of that one, and I remember it fondly. I think it ended up in the pile of comics I gave away (there were over 1000 of them, and this one was issue 2 or 3), but I remember liking Parobeck’s work and the general “fun” feeling of it.

I wish DC had just made the active decision to do a Marvel Knights style line and leave the majority of their books alone if they wanted to move in a darker direction. Or at least have a more kid-friendly line that didn’t reek of pre-school.
