Not Safe For Work Funnies - Chip Zdarsky's Marvel Idea Journal

Click on the journal to explore Chip Zdarksy's Marvel Idea Journal, but be forewarned, it is not work safe in the slightest bit. It's probably not safe for human eyes in general.

Still, it's hilarious.

My GAAWWWDDD, I'm BLIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But at least not blond. ;-)

I can't stop laughing at the one about Invisible Woman turning everything "more visible". That's hilarious...

OMG I'm cryin'! This is great! Sick, but great. Won;t admit which one(s) occurred to me as a rabid comics-lovin' teen.

"Spider-Man, no! More!"
I haven't laughed this hard is months.

Ha ha, that is just brilliant. Make it happen Marvel!

I shouldn't have laughed, but I did. A lot.

I'd pay good money to read a story where Doom has to go back to college to fulfill some obscure gen ed requirement.

I like how it's SO IMPORTANT to see from Cyclops' POV in all red. Good stuff.

Tits! Haw,haw, haw... F***! HAW,HAW,HAW...

How old are you all? Eleven? Six?
If that is what you think is hilarious, I don't wanna know what do you think it can be stupid... Or childish stupid... Or obnoxiously childish stupid...

I think a lot of the humour comes from it being ironic and satirical.
It's not simply the invoking of the word tits.

Oh man, I seriously lost it on the Invisible Woman one. It's the parenthetical notes that really make these work.

I loved the look on the sketch of JJJ's face. "PARKER!!! .... What have I done?!"

Brilliant!
Marvel needs to write those books now!

I liked it, but it needed more references to Batman porn.

I can't believe CBR would allow this kind of stuff on thier site. That was humor in it's lowest form, it's really pathetic and disrespectful.

Disrespectful to who? They're fictional characters!

Well, that was thoroughly repulsive.

Thanks, Brian, I loved it!

This is vile and disgusting. I expected better from CBR.

Andrew Collins: tell that to John Byrne.

Wait, is this supposed to be the latest Comic Critics?

Funniest thing I've read at work that I really shouldn't have.

Well, it made me laugh.

And it also made me look at the other stuff on there. Nice work Chip, I enjoyed your comics.

Best episode of Family Guy I've seen in years.

That was beautiful like when your pee doesn't burn as much.

This is fucking funny

:-P

This was funny, so kindly ignore the prudes. (It was labeled "not safe for work!" What did you think it was? Puppies?)

"Knob Gobblin'" is the funniest thing all I read day.

That was not even remotely funny, less original than 90% of the stories on fanfiction.net, and, frankly, rather tame. I've had filthier ideas for Marvel comics in church. Not trying hard enough, Mr Zdarsky.

That sounds like a dare to me.

- Jean grey dies, but comes back.

- Punisher ****s a gun.

I lol'd. :P

Katherine, I think the fact that people even think about stuff like that, or the fact that someone would think of it and seriously document it as a story idea, is the joke.

"If that is what you think is hilarious, I don’t wanna know what do you think it can be stupid… Or childish stupid… Or obnoxiously childish stupid…"

Your comment?

That was awesome. The Invisible Woman one is definitely the highlight!

You guys are REALLY easily amused. Those were just crude and dumb. If it was a gag just appearing on some fanfic writer's blog I bet the reaction would be nowhere near as enthusiastically positive. The only one that was funny was the Mystique turning into a couch one.

Knob Gobblin'. Heh.

[...] “Punisher fucks a gun.” - Chip Zdarsky, from his Marvel Comics Ideas Journal (link via Brian Cronin) [...]

Hmmmmmmmm... Since when "easily amused" is bad?

The thing that makes it work is the notebook format, like some high school kid is scribbling it under his desk.
It may not be the most brilliant or original thing ever, but at the same time it's asinine to berate people for enjoying it; everyone's sense of humour has its juvenile side, which needs to be indulged every now and then.

That said, couldn't people just throw some jpegs up onto their site when they do stuff like this, instead of pissing around with things like that totally uncalled-for wanky slideshow widget that piddles around loading itself when you first get to the site?

The best 5 minutes I've spent online all day! Only I'm reading this at night...
