I have ten original prints of Doyle's cartoons about the 1832 Reform Bill and am wondering if they have any value?

I've just bought two of his political cartoons, one of O'Connell as the Darranane[sic] conjuror, the other very beautiful, but mysterious to me. I didn't have a clue as to who HB was but bought on the strength of quality and Irish subject matter. I might go bakc and buy a few more.

I went to the jump page to look at some of Doyle's other works. He was quite a draftsman. It is easy to see that he had classical training. I think that that draftsmanship is missing from cartoons now because of frequency demands. However, Steve Sack of Minneapolis draws some pretty elaborate stuff.

2 of H.B.'s sons were cartoonists in thier own right and both worked on 'Punch'. Henry Edward Doyle (1827-92) was an engraver for Punch, a cartoonist for Fun and the commisioner for the Papal States to the great London exibition of 1862. Richard 'Dicky' Doyle (1824-83) Was a cartoonist for 'Punch' until he resigned in 1850 for Its anti-Papal policy (as Brian mentioned in his bio of Tenniel). As Irish and Catholic were synonymous in 19th C England hostility towards the Catholics/Irish at the height of the potato famine would be a justifyable reason for an Irish-Catholic cartoonist to quit Punch.
P.S. A totally useless fact is that all the Doyles from H.B down to Arthur Ignatius Conan believed in fairies!
