A Month of Good LGBT Comics - Small Favors
In conjunction with Prism Comics, the preeminent website for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) comics and creators, every day this month I will be detailing one good comic book/graphic novel with LGBT themes.
Here's an archive of the featured works so far!
TWO-DAY PORN BREAK!!!
I've mentioned this in the past (even devoted an entire Snark Blocker to the covers of the book), but Colleen Coover's erotic comic book, Small Favors, is possibly the cutest porn comic you'll ever read.

The concept of the book is that Annie is a young woman who masturbates too much. So Nibbil is sent to Annie to be sort of her Jiminy Cricket - a small conscience to keep her from masturbating so much. The only trouble is, Nibbil is hornier than Annie, so she spends most of her time having sex with Annie, and getting Annie involved in various escapades that involve lesbian sex.
Done by a worse writer, this could be the premise of a horrible book, but Coover's infectiously delightful and cute storytelling makes for a fun comic book that just happens to involve a lot of sex.
Coover's art style certainly helps matters - she never skimps on the eroticism of the sex, but it is just so darn POSITIVE. Pornography, as a genre, tends to be fairly angry - but not so with Small Favors - this is all about joy.

Reasonably enough, Coover felt that she might be typecast as a porn writer if she kept doing Small Favors, so she's moved on to other comics (and has been doing a great job with her new stuff), and while, like I said, that's perfectly reasonable on her part, it's still a shame to miss out on this fun comic.

I just want to note that the art starts out so-so, but in the last few issues, it's great.

She stopped doing "Small Favors"?!?! Darn it..
Ah well, understandable really... You don't really want to be the one that irate parents send hate mail to when they accidentally purchase "something by the author of X" that wasn't what they thought it was...
... Despite the "Adults Only" banner that so many parents seem blind to...
I noticed that Eros/Fantagraphics have recently been promoting "Ironwood" as "From the mastermind behind Fables..." - Not a bad thing, Ironwood is actually really fun, and Dragavon is an obvious inspiration for the character/attitude of Jack, but still...

I don't see a problem with it.
Bill Willingham's been doing comics for a lot longer than he's been doing 'Fables' and if it helps call attention to his earlier stuff... not just 'Ironwood', but 'Elementals' and 'Coventry; all the better.

I agree Pól, and I reckon that the majority of "Fables" readers are generally older anyway...
What would concern me more would be Eros pushing "Small Favors" towards readers of her current stuff...
...and the uproar from "concerned parents" towards Ms. Coover!
