Yeesh. Were those “Over the Edge” covers designed to showcase the worst styles of 1990s comic book art? Most are fairly hideous. Though I realize the metallic or foil or whatever covers don’t scan well. Of course, that trend was also an example of the problems of the era.

I loved that look on Doctor Strange, the Mark “Fables” Buckingham designed overcoat of levitation rather than the Ditko Cloak.

Consider me another vote for I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space. I did pick it up on a lark because of the title, and I’ve been charmed by its unique approach. Of course, it wrapped up this week (right? right?), so I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion (unless I’m crazy, and it isn’t actually ending).

Those Elektra covers are fantastic and such a good idea behind them. I’d say those Over The Edge comics would be good enough especially given the price point. Oh how I wish Marvel would throw out $1 books now.

It’s apparently been out for awhile, BTW (which is why I was a bit surprised to see it mentioned, I believe, last week as appearing in the latest PREVIEWS). My copy arrived from Amazon about a week ago.

Brian – Thanks for filling me in on the Over the Edge stuff! I know about the attempt at “groups” but I totally forgot about it. AND thanks for running the cover to Marvel Fanfare #1 (another series I have a few issues of here and there, and picked up around the same time as Over the Edge). I’m a huge Falcon fan so I’m gonna have to keep an eye out for that issue now.

As for Lesbian Pirates, I picked up the first issue because it was only a buck (just like Over the Edge!), but I gave it away to a friend before I even had the chance to read it.

Glad to see someone else is enjoying “I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space” as much as I have been. It is hilarious, on top of having quite possibly the greatest comic book title ever. Everyone who has been looking for a good humor comic should pick it up.
