I must say I'm impressed- those kids have got guts. Even if they are doing it anonymously, just the fact that they are trying to get back, in their own way, at the people who disrupt their lives (and others') is admirable.

You did the right thing, Mr. Hatcher- you gave the kids the chance to decide for themselves. Had you made the choice for them, even if it was for a good cause, they would have missed the chance to find out how to deal with their feelings on the matter. And that's what good teachers do: they give students the MEANS to live by. How they use them is THEIR decision by right.

I did kind of expect that surprise party, tho. From what you have told us, it sounds like those kids really appreciate you. And I'm sure after all this, they'll appreciate you even more.

That second-last image of Carlos reminds me of that Far Side cartoon that is "ruined" when two bystanders leaned into the panel.

Out of curiosity, Greg, what did you think of Gotham Knight?

Uneven but overall worth it. It's six short segments so you can't really review it as a single piece. My favorites were "Crossfire," which was like getting an extra bonus issue of Gotham Central (not surprising since Greg Rucka wrote that one) and "Deadshot," which was just a cool Bat-story period. The others I thought were just okay. This is one of those projects where the art mostly was lifting it up a notch; the fun is getting to see six different anime-style visual takes on Batman and that was what the kids were into. The two-disc set is the one to get, it includes four classic Dini-era Batman episodes as well. Nice little sampler for the folks that don't already own those.
