Voting for the Top 25 Battles Is Over!

The results will be up sometime next week, in a special feature on CBR.

This is different than our past countdowns, in the sense that it is going to be revealed all at once. Perhaps in the future I'll reveal some of the later picks that missed the Top 25.

I'll also likely do one of our traditional Top 100 lists sometime in the near future. Maybe early 2009?

Go Wonde...

oh wait, I completely failed to vote in this one. That means I have no right to complain. Damn it.

Matt, I disagree. I missed it too and still feel I have every right to complain, moan whinge etc...
That's what being a comics fan is all about!

Okay....Top 100 Female Characters!! pretty please?

Top 100 Ideas for a Top 100 List!

Well, the obvious choices are Top 100 Villains, Top 100 stories (of 12 issues or fewer) or Top 100 Single Issues.

Top 100 Comic book couples? (January voting would put results in February, after all.)
Top 100 Covers?

Top 100 named after numbers? (Two-Gun, Fantastic Four, Sinister Six, etc? Once oyu get past ten that'll be tough, but I remembere Guardians of the Galaxy villain called 86... And there were comics adaptations of the Hitchhiker's Books, so there's your 42 right there.)

But I really hope my vote is up there. C'mon, Peter David vs Bill Jemas!

Yes! What Josh said.

Top 100 female characters, maybe?

Top 100 story resolutions? Like the end of DKR, or the resolution of The Sandman.

Top 100 artists? Especially as most of the Top 100 Runs are so dominated by writers.

Top 100 limited issue series/GNs/original TPBs.

Top 100 non-first tier characters! Although that one might end up being a little contentious!

Top 100 story arcs

But with spoiler warnings! I love the top 100 runs list, but I had a good deal of comics I hadn't read before spoiled for me.

Top 100 Villains would tie in nicely with DC's "Faces of Evil". Plus, you know, villains are cool.

Throwing in some suggestions of my own:

Top 100 Deaths.

Top 100 Costumes.

Top 100 Supporting characters.

Top 100 First appearances.

Top 100 Hero/Villain names.

All at once? Aw, I was looking forward to looking forward to a new one being introduced each day.

How about a Top 100 comics NOT published by Marvel or DC?

Herbie Popnecker #1. All others #2.

The AFI once did a list of their top 50 movie heroes and 50 villians.. So how about the top 50 funniest/saddest moments in comics?

That sucks... I don't think my votes counted.

I think Top 100 writers and Top 100 Artists are good topics, and probably not as predictable as some people might think.

Top 50 characters who aren't Marvel or DC would be a good one, too.

I forgot to vote in the battle one--but I would vote in a top 100 non DC/Marvel character vote--as others above have also suggested.

Oooh, yeah, if it's a vote, I'm throwing in for story arcs under 12 issues as a companion piece to the 100 greatest runs. It's not only fun, it's useful for finding goodness to read.

All at once? Aw, I was looking forward to looking forward to a new one being introduced each day.

I agree. I'd prefer to see them counted down so we get a chance to chat about each one before we move onto the next one. Though one a day might be a bit slow. 2-5 a day would do it for me though.

Dan

You'll get a slow burn the next time we do a traditional Top 100 list.

This is for a special feature, so it's different (note the reduced voting period).

Dude I missed the vote... yeeargh. is it too late to sneak a hanging chad in for Korvac v. Avengers... arr.

How about Top 100 Supporting Characters

Wow. I missed voting? That's like Wimpy not showing up for the grand opening of a new burger chain.

Yeah, I really loved the Top 100 Runs list, so I'd be eager to see a Top 100 Story Arcs list to balance out the minis/GNs/etc. I know it's a HUGE job, Brian, but you can do it!

Looking forward to the battles results. In the meantime, may I suggest:

Top 100 Secret Identities

Top 100 Costumes

Top 100 Continuing Series Based on Other Sources (Movies, TV, etc.)
