Nobody's "judging the movie" Richard. I was using the way Rorschach's voice sounds in the trailer to expand on my thoughts regarding the character. I freely admit that until we see the performance, there's no reason to cry foul per say. As usual, everyone's got an opinion and as the poster above you states, people will hear these characters in a multitude of ways. My feelings re: the character's voice simply led me down a path to considering how I see the character in general, and trying to reconcile that with why the trailer didn't work for me.

Personally, I would not judge a movie just based on a trailer, let alone focusing in on just the sound of a character's voice in a trailer.

The voice sounds exactly like what I imagined when I read the comic, so I don't mind it. The only voice I'm not entirely feeling is The Comedian, but even he's close enough.

Thanks for the link love. As I said elsewhere, if I knew people were actually going to read that post, I'd have done a better job of writing it. A site in French linked to it and seems to use my argument that Rorschach's an existentialist to comment on the character's relationship to objectivism, which is something I wish I had done more of - not really pertinent to the trailer/voice issue, I know, but interesting nonetheless. @Dunc: Taxi Driver with the cast of 60's Batman is classic. @Mutt: Can't reply to your comment on my own blog at work (heh), but I totally love that connection. And knowing Moore's a Herbie fan makes that an even more relevant comparison.

Great little piece of analysis, and I think he's right, I don't think it'll come across in the movie.
Also, I think the film will lose out on a lot of the outright genre silliness that I love (Squid, I'm looking at you) that somehow makes everything more serious and tragic.

I think it'll be an entertaining movie based on a work of art, not a work of art in itself.

I used the analogy of Watchmen being Taxi Driver with the cast of the 60s Batman to a friend the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The article is really interesting. I was initially bewildered with the "Watchmen" movie but the more I know about it the more skeptic I grow. I just wanted to point out that Coen Bros. should be written without an "h"... Â¡Keep up the good work, I follow you daily!
