I liked this mini a lot. Some of the historical inconsistencies and plot holes made me shudder, but like you wrote Greg, it’s just a fun ride.

David: I didn’t claim it was a GREAT series, but it’s the kind of book that you can read over and over and always smile at the story. It makes you feel good, even if it’s largely inconsequential. And I certainly won’t justify a lot that Lobdell writes, but occasionally he writes something very cool, and this was one of them. Maybe you’re just dead inside like FunkyGreenJerusalem!!!!

I really liked this book, I thought the story was great fun and the art was a bit sketchy at times but much better then that cross over thing he just did, besides a couple of the covers Yu’s work on the New Avengers didn’t work for me at all. Later!

Greg, I love your Comics You Should Own selections, but High Roads is not for the list. The basic idea is fun but is only sold by Yu’s fabulous art. I bought the original issues when they came out because of Yu’s art – I don’t know how you can justify anything written by Scott Lobdell. I always thought you treated the writing as importantly as the art Still, congratulations on getting people to buy it based on your emotive celebration of it

I remember this book, it was a fun book to read.

Kind of reminds me of Diggle/Yu collaboration, Silent Dragon.

Looking at it, it really appears to me Yu is influenced just as much by Howard Chaykin around this time as by Travis Charest. A truly fun book though.

I don’t know how I managed to miss this, it’s so completely my kind of thing, but you sold me. Snapped up one of the cheap trades on Amazon before the run on them starts.

If this write-up DOESN’T start a run on them, well, then… I guess the world is a sadder place than I thought.
