Jersen -

I was lucky enough to have a high school English teacher who allowed me to do my one "you choose the book" report/paper on Sandman: Season of Mists. After she read the book, it was actually a pretty easy sell. It is so nice to see educators not shy away from graphic novels and allow students to study something that might actually seem relevant or interesting to them.

I am a high school English teacher, and my Senior English class will be reading Watchmen after the Christmas break. I'm very interested to read and hear the things they have to say in class and in their Reader's Journals as they make their way through the book. While I think the material in this article is a little esoteric for me to use in that class (not to mention that it basically requires them to read a whole other graphic novel to truly make the connections you discuss here), I feel that this is great for a college or special topics class. I would love to be able to do a high school graphic novel special topics class, but for now, I'm just excited that my principal is 110% behind me on using Watchmen in my Senior English class.
