Skurge at Gjallerbru is one of my favorite comic book moments. And so is Thor vs Jormungand. And Surtur forging Twilight. And Eilif's last stand against Fafnir. And Beta Ray Bill defeating Thor. Though I never cared an iota for the character before or after this run, Simonson's Thor was pure gold. Best superhero comic ever.

I read the Skurge story just this week, in the Thor God-Sized special, and was awesome, that's the way a hero should die, that fight is a Top Ten for sure. Peace.

The Squadron Supreme cover reminds me a lot of a classic "Legends" scene. IIRC it came after Legends, could it be an homage? Or are both scenes referencing something else?

I thought it was nice that they reprinted Thor #362 in the "God-Sized" Thor out this week. Man, those Simonson Thors were great! Skurge's Last Laugh should be waaaay higher than this, but people forget just how awesome Simonson on Thor really was, I guess.

Batman vs Superman in New Frontier should be about 5000 spots above Superboy Prime vs the Titans. They're literally on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of quality.

That Skurge scene was one of the first times that I was really, deeply, moved by a comic. I remember re-reading it several times and actually choking up and I think that -- in all honesty -- it was one of the formative moments that turned me into a lifelong comic fan. So, I know that I'm not objective about it, but I'd also place this in the top ten battles.

I'd also stick that Skurge battle much, much higher. I wasn't even a big fan of Thor, or even Walt Simonson, and read that comic back then only by accident. Those frames have stuck with me better through the years (decades?) than other comics that I collected obsessively.

Well-composed, impactful... noble, meaningful death.

Need to track down Simonson's Thor.

My favorite part of the Thanos vs Everybody fight is Spidey freaking out and running away, then getting his shit together and coming back in a most heroic fashion.

Skurge holding the bridge should have been top ten for sure.

I love these lists but its a shame that no battle from the Walt Simonson run on Thor was in the Top 25.
We can do a Top 10 with that run alone.
Skurge's battle is one of my favorite comics moments and should be ranked much higher.
And if Thor vs The World Serpent isn't at least in the Top 30 it's gonna be a great injustice

Yo, you better have the last Spider-Man/Harry Osborn fight in the top 20. Harry drinks a bunch of super Goblin juice, takes Mary Jane to "the bridge", flies around town harassing Peter in broad daylight, kicks Spider-Man's ass in a bomb-rigged building, and then goes back to save him, proving The Power of Friendship in his last seconds before he succumbs to his own jacked-up formula. All around, a good companion piece to the original "last fight" with the first Green Goblin, and way better than the movie.
