The first...hmmm...let's say 10 (#100-91) will be up tonight.

the links for 1-25 just go to the first page of the countdown, not the individual entries.

I dunno.
I still think that # 10 and 14 should be be # 2 and 3.
But that's just me.

One thing to say: Dark Knight Returns sucked. Having it as #1 is just wrong. #2,3 and 5 are all awesome though.

Where Punisher vs Barracuda? and Punisher vs the Russian?
tk.

Although I slacked off and didn't submit my entry in a timely manner, and I don't read a lot of DC fare generally, I have to say that I agree with #1 wholeheartedly. #8 and #22 also made my list, good stuff.

Just for you, Conor, I actually went back and individually linked to each numbered entry, 1-25.
Look at that service you get!

I hope that the first Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) vs. Lady Shiva (not known at the time but eventually to be revelaed as her mother) fight is on this list, Damion Scott and Kelly Puckett built that thing up and then delivered an insane fight. It was the real conclusion to the Death Wish storyline that had been going on through the first 25 issues.

Why are entries #26-85 missing?

houseofjanzen thought DKR sucked?
fuckin idiot.

The first thing I thought of when I started the article was the DKR battle. the grit and determination of batman, and the resourcefulness he shows is fantastic, pretty rare in the cookie cutter comic book battle department. Awesome!

AKIRA v. TETSUO
scott
December 20, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I also want to second Batgirl v. Lady Shiva. Seriously classic.
Matt Bird
December 20, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Right on, Scott, but I'm afraid the umpteen kick-ass fights in Akira may cancel each other out. I myself didn't vote for any because I didn't know whether to pick Keneda and his gang vs. Tetsuo leading the clowns, or Keneda, Kay and the kids vs. Tetuso in the Nursery, or the final fight in Olympic Stadium, or... etc.

Where do I go to nominate fights?
I'd like to nominate the Justice Alliance of America (of Earth-D) along with some of the E-1 heroes versus the Shadow Demons of the Crisis.

Walt Simonson´s Orion vs. Darkseid !!!!!

You're right. It was Keneda v. Tetsuo. My bad. I think of it as one huge fight, but the final part is best. TETSUOOOOOOOOOOO........

What about the Anti-Monitor vs. Supergirl ? they were killing each other and Supergirl was about to win when female Doctor Light distracted her..

No sign of Doom vs. The Beyonder from the original Secret Wars?
bbb
December 22, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Wow...if Spidey vs the Original Sinister 6 checks in only at 90, and the FF vs Galactus barely cracks the top 25... then I'd say a lot of voters need to read more comics from more than just the last 5 years...yikes..and if the multi-part Spirit/Octopus doesn't make it...then this list has no validity....

Nick Pitarra
December 22, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Where is...
The Authority VS The Evil Doctor?
The Authority VS The mock Avenger Team?
Those were awesome!
And I'm with Scott too. Akira VS Tetsuo!

I am a big Punisher fan and hence tend to get disppointed when punisher doesnt figure in any top lists…..
So i recommend Punisher vs Russian, their first battle……No gadgets, no acrobatics, no super powers….
Pure, no holds barred pain fest……….and i hope this gets a higher place
I mean come on…batman vs mutant leader at rank 24?????…….well Punisher vs Barracude was anytime better than this,,,,,,and any of the two battles they had…………
One more recommendation….Punisher vs the russian army at the nuclear base in the From Russia with Love arc in Punisher max…….

I believe those votes got counted towards entry #15 (though I know it wasn't the last battle as the text says)

You know, the pace, it's going to need to be picked up a whole lot to get the 40 remaining battles up in three days...

December 23, 2008 at 4:02 pm
OK Doom vs Beyonder is in, but I second Nick Pitarra in that The Authority vs. Mock Avengers should be represented here, or the Authority (mostly Midnighter) vs. New Authority/Seth round 2.

I'd love to see Blink vs. Holocaust on the list somewhere. And although it's a little off the beaten path, Tao vs. WildCATS 1 & 2 would be nice to see.
Brian Cronin

It's designed to give folks a specific reason to check out the site on Christmas Day, as that day will have more than one update.

December 24, 2008 at 4:47 am
Looks like I was wrong about that as the Supergirl one has just turned up at #62. My guess is a lot of people said DCU Superheroes vs The Anti-Monitor without specifying which battle.

I'm surprised that more people didn't list Spidey vs the Green Goblin from Jenkins' run on Peter Parker: Spider-Man, issue #47. Probably has the best line Spidey ever delivered to Norman- "Just being you... That's life without parole."

Now it's all over, my votes that didn't place anywhere (and I'm surprised by all three) are:
4 - Rorshach vs Prison
8 - Captain America vs Hank Pym in Ultimates
9 - Rorsharch vs Polics

You didn't mention one Avengers fight that should have made the list. It could be considered part of the Avengers vs. Korvac, I suppose. It is where Hawkeye takes down the Collector after the Collector has captured everyone single Avenger and Guardian. Great battle.

granted, the fight was only one panel, but i seriously can't believe superman vs. azmodel from jla #7 wasn't on the list. that one panel, with azmodel shouting "yield!" and superman responding "never!", coupled with the reaction of flash and green lantern in the next panel-- "this is the guy who says he can't live up to his hype? he's wrestling an angel!" is, i believe, the single most iconic superman moment.

What gave the battle between Spider-Man & Kraven the right to be in this list? There was absolutely no resistance from Kraven when Spider-Man was punching the blood out of him after Spider-Man left his grave and no resistance from Spider-Man before he gets drugged
