You buy good things, Bill.

I approve.

Captain Britain and MI:13 needs to be read by everyone (well, everyone who enjoys superhero comics and/or cinema and everyone who enjoys magic books and/or cinema and everyone who enjoys street-wise vigilante comics and/or cinema and everyone who enjoys anything British and everyone who enjoys good ideas and everyone who enjoys exciting plots and everyone who enjoys solid artwork and...yeah, everyone. Period. Purchase it.)

Also: I would totally buy a Sparrow one-shot or mini series or ongoing or whatever. She's a great addition to the Robo world.

Also II: Further Boogaloo: I always figured fans of Dr. Who were called "Who-vers." For the sheer Britishness of the term.

Also the Third: Everyone should also pick up Umbrella Academy. It's the only thing that can tide me over between Casanova hits. Somebody needs to invent a way to mainline Ba and Moon art.

"(or Whovians, as they prefer to be called on the census), "

Oh, SCREW THAT. I'm a fan of Doctor Who. Why the hell do I need to have a name that sounds like a bad hair band attached to me?

Sorry for the lack of Sparrow in that last Robo issue. We keep talking about a Sparrow one-shot or two-issue mini though. Would that make up for it? :)

I'm guessing the drop in sales of Captain Britain and MI:13 is down to the Secret Invasion part being over...
I'm trying to recommend it to everyone I know who reads comics, but he's just getting trades at the mo...

I have to admit going back and reading Final Crisis #1-3 in a row when #3 came out. It really helped. I might do that again when #6 arrives (#1-6 that is, not just #1-3!)

Oh, and I hope T. doesn't read your Buffy review, or this column is going to run and run.... :-)

Although I'm enjoying Final Crisis, I think there are some scenes that don't contain enough information. I liked the Rubik's cube bit, for example, but I couldn't recognize the characters in the cell. I still don't know what Anthro & Kamandi have to do with anything. I get the overall plot, I like the way Morrison uses some of the characters, sometimes the dialogue clicks, the Kirby shout-outs are cool, but some of the details get tricky. I'm reasonably sure it will make sense in the end (mostly, anyway), but I still don't think complaints of confusion are entirely unwarranted.

On a slightly related note, I don't think the story is a retread of Rock of Ages, but I do think the events of Final Crisis are what would make the Rock of Ages- future happen.

I dunno, the weird thing about Final Crisis is that I think people are confused by how little is really going on in it. Darkseid won the war, everything's going bleak, and reality's falling apart because "Evil Wins" isn't supposed to happen in a superhero universe, at least not on the sort of cosmic/metaphysical level depicted here. (It's never happened meaningfully on that level in a Marvel crossover, either, since Thanos always realizes he's screwed things up rather badly and undoes his own occasional flights of omnipotence.)

I agree with you on Captain Britain & MI:13. It's one of Marvel's best books right now (alongside Incredible Hercules and Captain America).

Final Crisis still confuses the hell out of me. Maybe I'll read it all in one sitting and then I'll be able to enjoy it.
