Damn good moment. It's so hard to think of what my favorite moment in Sandman is. The comic is so full of them. Though my favorite arc is easy. I love how "The Doll's House" has all those plot threads that start out feeling separate and then just collide together. The scenes in the serial killer's convention are just wonderfully surreal and creepy. I'd also say that A Game of You is a very, very close second. Barbie's dream about Wanda and Death is one of the major possibilities for my favorite moment. Thinking about it gets me misty eyed.

Yeah, that's a cracker. There's another one just as good in that same issue (or the one right after it, I don't recall) when Lucifer asks Dream why he should be allowed to leave Hell. Great stuff.

I did not mention it in the comments on the original voting thread and I did not mention it in the post-mortem of the top 25 comment thread as well.

The only time I've ever mentioned the scene on the blog was once last month and once this month, so it was weird to see a complaint about overusing it.

That said, NOW I've mentioned it three times with the propaganda entry.

This is my favourite comic moment of all time, and the one that I show people who are sitting on the fence about reading comics. The whole battle is a masterpiece of poetry and art, and the "I am hope" leaves me with a feeling of awe and humility and contentment and....connectedness.
I suppose it is the closest that this agnostic boy has ever had to an epiphany - knowing that regardless of what disasters occur and the evil that humans do to one another and the planet there is always hope

And it never fails to get people reading Sandman comics either !

My favorite Sandman moment is the "title panel," if you would, of Brief Lives. The chocolate lovers. So much magic in that comic; and from my only top favorite comic writer who ISN'T a practicing magician..

My favorite moment so far is when Morpheus is getting ready to go back to hell, and is telling his subjects how dangerous it is, and that he might not come back. The raven says, "well, at least you'll have the element of surprise," and Morpheus tells him that he already sent word to Lucifer that he was coming. Because Morpheus is that freaking awesome.

I loved that gruesome joke that Gaiman wrote in the Doll's House, I think it was in Sandman # 14.

The emcee (who's a serial killer) was making a joke at a serial killers convention, before introducing a real nasty serial killer who's one of Morpheus dream functions.
