I was going to say guest stars with the same hair color as the series regular (Polaris and Doc Samson, Rusty and Jean Gray, although the JLA book may not fit, I don't know).

I don't know who is actually on the cover for the Global Gaurdians but if the flying lady is Owlwomen they all feature characters who are Okies. Rusty and Doc Sampson are both from Tulsa.

I recognize a couple characters in the Justice League Quarterly (is that the Jewish mystic from Ostrander's Suicide Squad & Spectre?), but not many, so this is a guess:

All 3 have super-heroes who use their real names (Doc Samson, Rusty Collins) instead of codenames.

In the Emperor Doom OGN, the entire Marvel Universe (more or less) was mind controlled!

So the theme is a bit more specific than that.

I've never read the Justice League one and I'm not familiar with the character, but the other two feature at least two characters that have been mind controlled in the past (Polaris and Doc Samson on one and Skids and Rusty on the other one).
