Dang, it's too bad about the League record being tied to DC. And the whole point is to get the VINYL RECORD, not just hear Alan Moore's spooky basso profundo online.

I like about the Century solicits that each book is self contained, so that the shipping delays won't affect it. Didn't we first hear about Century, oh, 2 years ago? I guess O'Neill really is that slow.

Re: Black Dossier vinyl record

I think if DC had any plans of releasing this we would have seen it by now. I think they just scrapped that idea as an unnecessary expense.

As for Top Shelf possibly releasing it, a user over at the 4ColorHeroes message board posted this:

"I emailed Top Shelf on the subject of League: vol III: Century and got a speedy reply from Brett Warnock. He confirmed that the first issue of League III will be solicited at the upcoming month's Previews (February '09) and offered in coming April. On the subject of them releasing the Black Dossier vinyl, he said that the Black Dossier is entirely a DC/Wildstorm book and Top Shelf has no control over it."

http://www.4colorheroes.com/forum/index.php?topic=45.45

I've given up hope of seeing this anytime soon, unless someone steals it from Alan and leaks it on the Internet.

On the LOEG side, I thought "Century" took place just after the events of Book 2 (i.e. a good 40+ years before Black Dossier)...

Or is that just the first "Chapter" of Century?

According to Erik Larsen there's two more Next Issue Project books in the works. They are going be 32 page books though.

I was hoping the Paul Pope's The Total THB series would arrive this year but it sounds like that's going to have to wait as well. Ditto Pope's Battling Boy book.

I keep hearing Image is doing hardcover reprints of Simonson's Starjammers and Art Adams Monkeyman & O'Brien series so I'm looking forward to those.

I think Fantagraphics is going to do the Pogo reprints this year.

Kurt Busiek said Astro Age Dark Ages Book Three is drawn and just waiting on Alex Ross to do the covers. He's working on a two part story about Astra the First Family's daughter in college. So looking forward to that.

"I’m actually dreading the LoEG…I thought that ‘Black Dossier’ suffered greatly from using non-public domain material, as Moore had to be so veiled in his allusions that the book was nigh unto incomprehensible without the Jess Nevins guide. I consider myself fairly well-read and generally up to speed on pop culture, but that one left me scratching my head. And “Century” sounds like it could be even more confusing."

I followed it just fine and I'm not that well read. The Nevins annotations do enhance the experience.

There’s nothing wrong with ending a sentence with a preposition if it makes the sentence more clear and less awkward.

Damn straight. From what I gather this idea that you shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition comes from Latin - where it made sense - and has no place in the English language.

The simple fact that that SEAGUY thing will exist is likely to make me stab myself in the eye at some point today, just to show my disgust with Morrisonism in particular & reality in general. Oh, well.

With any luck, the vision in my remaining eye won't suffer too much, & I'll be able to enjoy POWER GIRL, SUPER HUMAN RESOURCES, AGENTS OF ATLAS, JOHNNY MONSTER & X-MEN: FIRST CLASS -- FINALS when they start coming out. (Those aren't necessarily the 4 I'm most looking forward to, but they're the 5 that come to come to mind immediately, especially since I steadfastly refuse to have anything to do with PREVIEWS.)

Among upcoming reprints, I continue to look forward to the BLAZING COMBAT collection that Fantagraphics was supposed to bring out a month ago. I'm now hearing March. Here's hoping!
