Re: the Looney Tunes cover --

The idea was to give it a James Bond look-and-feel. I found that most of the classic JB posters had a white background, but I didn't want to go there. I couldn't do the 'collage of babes' found in so many old movie posters. Actually, I didn't want to make it look too 'classic' at all -- this is aimed for TODAY'S kids remember.

So I tried to synthesize some of the posters, keep it simple, and give it a modern color-scheme -- like the 'next' JB movie might have. If I had it to do over again, I'd move the action vignettes up in the frame, and have a better balance between background and Bugs.

I think that the "No-cover" for Supergirl was way better than the Gray Frank's cover to Superman.
Regarding the Green Lantern cover, it looks like a Classic Squadron Supreme cover presenting Doctor Spectrum!!!

I disagree with the game limiting the potential for the Mirror's Edge cover. The game's art stye (from what I've seen, not playing it yet) is very dynamic and visually brilliant. I think the red is less saturated than it should be and white isn't bright enough. Also, the character looks like she is walking a tight rope as opposed to running.

"Wow, Whilce Portacio being able to do Spawn AND Superman/Batman? Impressive!"

IIRC, Whilce mentioned at Wizard World Texas that the issue of Superman/Batman has been in the can for a while.

There's more to that Top 10 cover. I don't know why they got rid of the non-girl parts. There's two more figures and a background.

Wait, the Manhattan Guardian is white again now?

Different guy.

And yeah, don't you remember, the Manhattan Guardian was a character Morrison invented so that other writers would use him, so naturally no one will touch him with a ten-foot pole. Honestly, I think it really is more of a compliment than an insult that other writers don't use the new characters he creates, in a sort of "we won't mess with your characters" type of way. Even when the characters were created FOR other writers to use.

- Kinda funny that the new Action Nightwing actually looks a lot like Dick Grayson.

- I don't think either of those is supposed to be the Bat-Signal, actually.

- Someone didn't tell Daniel that Huntress' Lee-designed costume was subtly modified during Simone's run. Also: three DC female characters in a shot and Nightwing's only slept with one of them? That's a rare occurence.

- Looking over some old BoP covers... geez, you're right, Babs rarely got that type of cover treament. Although... look up the cover to BoP 59. Not unprecedented, although given that was Ed Benes it's not unexpected.

- Gary Frank's Superman needs a bit more bulk to him. He's aping Chris Reeve, but Reeve was JACKED when he filmed the first couple of movies.

- Black Adam raising the People's Eyebrow at Evil Mary is the funniest image of the month, no doubt.

- See, the outfit on the Secret Six cover is the current Huntress one, with the cross motif being more pronounced.

- I haven't seen that JLU piece before, actually - it doesn't look like any DVD cover I can remember.

- That Unknown Soldier cover is *really* disturbing. I don't think I've had such a freaked-out reaction to a piece of comic art since the infamous reveal at the end of 52 (which still creeps me out to this day).

- The Super Friends covers should get mandatory honourable mentions at this point. Even if Flash and GL don't really work right with their particular gimmicks (GL should be making balloon animals with the ring or something like that).

- BATB is so much better than any lame Obama cover.

What, no Scooby-Doo this month?
That's it, exactly, Robert. :)

There were no new Scooby Doo covers this month.

However, when the cover used this month was originally solicited (I think back in July for October shipping), I had it in my Top Five for that month!

I like the new Katana costume, but I dunno if I am just reacting to the fact that the last costume was so goddawful.

If by last costume, you mean every costume that Katana has ever worn before this, then I agree. This is by far Katana's best looking outfit. (The Japanese flag suit is worth mentioning for being particularly awful.)

I liked the GL cover better than you did, but that's because I really dug the coloring (especially as it fits in with the Rainbow Lantern theme.)
