Geez, I guess mocking DC for doing the new Titans series was premature… Marvel’s thinking the same thing.

(And at least with DC, half the team in Titans has marquee value since they’ve been pushed continuously since then and have been in various movies / TV series. I can’t even name the original members of the New Mutants after Ilyana, and that was only because a different version of her was in Exiles so much)

Give the country a couple more months and you might just be able to change a few panels in the No Man’s Land collections and it’d fit.

According to the solicits, The Goon trade is 112 pages. So the math is even more in your favor! But four issues of The Goon cost $2.99 each, right? So a trade of four issues ought to be $12, right? That’s what I’m wondering about. Unless an issue of The Goon is $3.50 – I don’t know.

As Buck Rogers has a history as a newspaper strip that goes back many decades before the utterly worthless & crappy TV version (which just about ties the original Galactica for worst SF TV show ever), I should damn well hope that any new comic version, no matter how much of a revamp, is all about the real thing, and ignores the TV version as much as possible. Being disappointed by the absence of such show-born aberrations as Twiki is just messed up.
As a kid I found & took out this massive reprint book from the library, covering most of the first plot of the strip & sampling various eras of the strip throughout the years. As dated as it was, I ate it up & was not pleased with the disco-camp version a few years later, even though I was 15 by then & theoretically part of the target audience.
Though this revamp looks okay, if a movie were ever done I’d love it to be set in a retro-future that looks like a 1930s version of the 25th century, even if (or maybe even especially if) the version of Buck was from our present day. Any nods to previous versions, even mocking ones, should be strictly to the strip; leave the show in the memory sewer where it belongs.

Does he scan the world’s newspapers for bizarre crimes and then say to Alfred, “I must go to Reykjavik this week! Only I can solve the bizarre hot springs murders there!” And Alfred sighs and says, “Veddy well, sir.”

There’s an old Denny O’Neil-written issue of Batman where that’s the exact plot. He has clipping services send articles about bizarre crimes to an empty office he rents, then goes and scoops them up when Gotham’s quiet, picks one and jets off across the world to solve it.

He ends up in Spain in that issue, too, actually.

If I didn’t pay 70 bucks for a Bruce Campbell action figure, I doubt I’ll spend 65 on Blacula, no matter how bitchin’ it is.

FF: True Story sags in the middle, but the ending is pretty awesome. The art may not be to your taste, but I enjoyed the series, if my opinion counts. Cornell can do little to no wrong!

Yeah, all this focus on Power Girl’s giant boobs has just really got so damn ridiculous. I mean, everyone — fans, writers, editors — all know and practically admit that a major reason why she’s been popular of late is the continuous portrayal of her rack.

That said, I do kind of find her an interesting character otherwise. But we all know what’s getting our attention at first.

I just watched that vampire episode of Buck Rogers the other night! It creeped me out as a kid, but its affect were lost on me somewhat as an adult because the “vampire” is just sooo damn goofy looking. As for the new comic, I’m a little disappointed by Scott Beatty’s “No Twiki” declaration, but I still plan on picking up at least the first issue, Figure it’s at least worth the 25 cent cover price.

And yeah, like Jack said above, it looks like all the DC sections were messed up. If you look at the order form, you’ll see listings for the comics that were supposed to be on those pages. The newissue of JLA was one of them…

And I wasn’t going to comment, but since you pointed it out, Joshua Middleton does draw a fine gratuitous female posterior on that Supergirl cover doresn’t he?

Cages is great, the art and storytelling are fantastic. My copy of the original hardcover fell apart pretty fast, and I put off getting a new copy. I’ll get this edition and hope it lasts longer.
