The I’ds of March – 2009!

The concept is this – I tell you things that I’d have done in certain comics!!

But don’t worry, I’m not talking about simple 20/20 hindsight things like pick a famous bad storyline and just say, “I wouldn’t have done that.”

No, I mean more like tweaks and nudges, stuff like that.

You can check out last year’s I’ds to see what I’m talking about, or just wait a couple of minutes for the I’ds to begin!

It’s worth noting that 3 of your old I’ds are happening to some extent:

1. The post-Byrne Superman supporting cast is getting some plots (Cat Grant in Action/Supergirl, Jose Delgado in Trinity)

2. Crystal’s isn’t being pushed to the center, but she is a gettting a more prominent role through War of Kings.

3. Connor Kent is doing something for Blackest Night (although we don’t know what.)

Yeah, I just noticed that myself. Pretty funny.

I’m enjoying these.

I’d bring Bart Allen back as Impulse.

I will admit . . . having Bart come back in his Kid Flash uni to make Superboy-Prime drop a load was cool, but I had my own idea. Bart would’ve been dead, but like his grandmother, his conscious mind would’ve been propelled into the future. In Bart’s case, it would be in the 64th Century, where he’d be in a cloned body and his Impulse costume. After dealing with antagonists (Abra Kadabra acolytes? Reverse Flash zealots?), Bart would want to stay in that time . . . until his body starts falling apart. Then he has to go back to the 21C, dig up his old body and merge with it. From there, I’d have Bart run his own path. Since the world thought him dead, as evidenced by the Tasha Yar sequence in Countdown, I would’ve had Bart either a. Become a hero without getting attention and possible dealing with off-the-radar heroes, b. Go to multiple Earths to find his niche; a “Worlds Tour,” if you will, or c. Travel into the future to figure out why there’s no evidence of his cousin XS, which has been covered somewhat awkwardly by Johns in Lo3W. Oh, and there would be a crossover with Booster Gold between the first two arcs. My main goal: To continue the evolution of Bart as something beyond comic relief — which was what Geoff Johns had in mind with the Kid Flas transition — while maintaining the wonderment of the Waid/Ramos run.

Still . . . “BOO” does make for one heckuva cliffhanger, doesn’t it?

Great idea for Impulse, Jason. I love the idea of having a regualr Exiles comic in the DCU, especially since they have the multiverse idea going. (Warning: Snark ahead.) maybe they could even do it on a weekly basis! There’s no WAY that could go wrong, or devolve into WTF anarchy. (/Snark)
